Phil Lipof OUT at WCVB/Boston

Well I must say I’m shocked. Golden Boy Phil Lipof is leaving WCVB and heading to NECN and NBC Boston after his contract expires July 1st.

His replacement, a guy coming from Fox in New York, will co-anchor with Golden Girl JC Monahan at 5 and 5:30 and will co-anchor with Maria Stephanos on the ME-TV 10pm broadcast.

Phil has actually been taken off the anchor desk until he leaves the station and will only be reporting. Maria or Ed or maybe Heather Unruh will co-anchor with JC until the new guy comes in.

WCVB has become nothing more than a Tabloid, If it Bleeds It Leads station. Do they see that Ed Ansin fading into the background with the end coming for Channel 7 and WCVB wants to replace them as the new low class tabloid news station?
