I've just posted a short clip of KOMA from 37 years ago on my website. The audio quality is fair at best and the clip is short. But how many previously unreleased KOMA airchecks from 1972 are still around?

Lots of other airchecks from 1972-99 on my site also :)

Good stuff...do any of you remember John Timm (the engineer) who used to pull the Sunday night shift. What he couldn't do to a format!

Does anyone (including me) remember back in the '60s when KOMA CE Freddie Moore did noon to 3? Or am I making that up? He had a very conversational delivery, much like what was later used on early free-form FM. I know WKY was putting a beatdown on KOMA in the ratings, but I thought Freddie was what middays should sound like.

Yep, I remember John. He's the guy who taught me not to pot down the audio when I spoke, just let the processing do it's job.

I can remember John playing One Tin Soldier over and over during maintenance on KOMA.

That was fun to hear.

Yup. John loved that song... LOL! "I'll look for it." when a caller looked for some bublegum crap to John ment looking at the back wall and carrying on with was he was doing. He hated bublegum crap. :) Now those were the real days of radio!
