Philadelphia AM For Sale

A Philadelphia Market AM is for sale, asking price is $10 million for the property that leases it's studio and tower site.

Closest I could find was on mymediabroker.com, which lists the station as a NJ property, on AM, asking $10 mil. Nothing else as to power/calls/freq/etc. Idle speculation, perhaps WEMG or WTMR?

Then what could it be?

WWJZ? WIFI? WIMG? WPHY? WCHR? WBUD? WNJC?

Im just naming stations that could even be remotely heard in Philly (provided the Top market they refer to is not further North).

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope and nope.. none of those....

RJ will say: it sounds like a 50,000 watt signal coming out of roxborough even though its from jersey, *whispers *and the government 'dont know' about it!

Whatever the station up for sale is........I think we should take a collection up for Julius to buy him a radio station, get the FCC to grant a license to move the stick and transmitter at a location North of Roosevelt Blvd. and Southampton Rd. and license the station as Radio Byberry. What are your thoughts on that Julius?

Here's a thought: who cares! With the exception of WIP, KYW, and WPHT, Philadelphia gave up on the AM band years ago. 640's signal is being wasted away; dollar-a-holler stations are left and right between WWDB, WNJC, and WNWR; 560 and 990 - two heritage, legendary stations are airing the mindset of their owners just to air the mindset of their owners, the need for WNAP and WDAS(AM) has moved to FM, billboards left and right for 950 can't get it above a 1.0, etc., etc.

Think of it this way: six AM stations with measurable audiences are pulling a combined 3.4, which equals WPHT by itself.

The odds of someone spending $10M on an AM in this city and making it anything mass-appeal is practically zero!

It's not one on that list you just posted.

Why won't I tell? I love playing the guessing game;)

Fine...I'll take a shot at it.
