Philadelphia Arbitron Ratings: April 2013

http://mobile.****************/cgi-bin/rolmobi.exe/arb007

Overall age 6+ publicly released data is for the April 2013 survey period covering Thu. 3/28/13-Wed. 4/24/13.
Next survey period will be May 2013 (covering Thu. 4/25/13-Wed. 5/22/13) with the data release date being Mon. 6/10/13.

The usual WIP-AM double-listing error persists; WIP-FM from December 2012 thru April 2013 has gone 3.3-3.1-4.1-3.6-3.2-3.7
The current cume for WIP-FM is 697,500.

Now, WHYY-FM is the number two talk station in Philly.

PS: Temple University owns WRTI, not Family Radio, which sold 106.9 and then bought 950AM (shortly after the world ended).

not happy that WPHT-AM went down to a 2.1, despite the Phillies and Dick Morris.

The strength of WRFF in key demos as an Alternative station in 2013 is really really something.

97.5 Fanatic (1.9 rating )seemingly never makes a dent. And I can see why.

They are obliged to carry ESPN Mike + Mike.Thats not going to generate listeners. Thats a huge liability.

Tony Bruno/Harry Mayes imo are excellent entertainment.

Then they lose me. Ive never from day 1 liked these interns/producers (whatever you want top call them) being handed on-air jobs. I really despise the Marks,Braces, NickCale,. I usually stream Bruno and the second they say get set for John Markssss. Click 97.5 is off for the rest of the day.

I am all about paying dues and having top level talent for top level markets. 97.5 is littered with on air talent that have absolutely no business being on Philadelphia airwaves.

Can anyone post Marks/Braces ratings in the 12-2 slot?

I wouldn't be shocked if GM buys 106.9, 1210 or even 950 to put the ESPN radio programming on.

No reason for Greater Media to do that. Besides, they already sold 950 which was carrying ESPN. But possibly Disney might pick up 950 if Family Radio declares bankruptcy and has to liquidate.

Agreed. Everyone on these boards is anti-alternative, so you won't here a peep. New York board, are u listening about WRFF?

I'm not anti-alternative. Just indifferent. And not surprised. An alternative station should do well in the 18-34 segment.

The interesting part of the All Access analysis is the "ties that bind" KYW and B-101. These are the "least objectionable" format. Everybody who can't find what they want to hear on terrestrial radio can at least tolerate these two. They should change their branding to "all other" and "none of the above." They represent the long tail of the radio audience.

We are listening on the New York Board. Makes no sense for NYC to be without an Alternative or a Rock station in the #1 Market in the country

does anyone think that CBS will leave the station status Que or do you expect to see some drastic changes to the station and perhaps a new format in the coming days, weeks or months? They can't be happy that ratings didn't go up.

I think New York is one of those markets where the people who listen to rock formats get their music elsewhere. It's not waiting room/elevator/office friendly enough to move the needle on PPM, so no one wants to stick with it. The future of music radio in big cities, especially NYC, is CHR, AC and Spanish.
