Wow huge drop for ben-fm what should greater media do with it ?

Most of that drop likely came from workplaces that switched to B101, so as long as they switch back, Ben will be okay 25-54.

wheres wip? all i see is am that can't be right!!!

WIP-FM had a 3.1, down from a 3.3.

The RADIO ONLINE site continues to list WIP-AM twice instead of WIP-FM at all.

Many workplaces I know actually do the opposite to avoid the Christmas music.

Nothing. The Holiday books are always skewed, and always taken with a grain of salt. You think MMR, XTU and RFF really dropped that much too in a month?

Right. B-101 had a 15.9. That had to come from somewhere.

Notice the Talk stations dropped further? WWIQ was #20 and WPHT was #22.

OK, as said above, a lot of stations lose listeners during the Holidays due to B101 getting mega-numbers. Certainly many older listeners who tune in Talk outlets will switch to the station that plays tons of Sinatra and Carpenters Christmas songs for five weeks.

But where will WWIQ and WPHT be in January?

Sorry! Wish I had checked the chart before posting it so I could add a correction.

From AllAccess.com for WIP-FM and WIP-AM:

Station     Format      Owner    Aug 12 Sep 12 Oct 12 Nov 12 Dec 12 Hol 12
WIP-FM    Sports      CBS Radio    3.2        3.7        3.9       3.2      3.3   3.1
WIP-AM    Sports        CBS Radio    0.6        0.5        0.6       0.7        0.6       0.7

Station     Format        Aug 12 Sep 12   Oct 12 Nov 12   Dec 12 Hol 12
WIP-FM    Sports         667,900 696,400 830,600 695,500 722,300 704,800
WIP-AM    Sports         122,800 138,100 201,000 192,100 165,600 164,200

That's a 3.9 combined for WIP-A-F. IIRC, that's lower than the last combined rating during the life of WYSP. Don't have access to the numbers anymore but IIRC they were something like 2.2 for WYSP and 2.0 for WIP.

Of course, the two stations now cost a bunch less to run than they did then.

someone needs to contact them about this.

Interesting that WOGL's switch to all-holiday got them no traction (although I supposed it helped them hold off erosion to B).

Exactly. We can't say it didn't help, because we don't know what the ratings would have been if they didn't do it.

so looks like people made the switch to fm!!

WOGL would be best served keeping their regular format and sprinkling in a fair amount of holiday tunes. B is clearly entrenched as the Christmas station. 15.9 should pretty much say this is where the listeners go for wall to wall Santa.

OGL didn't gain any ratings in 2011 either, but the year before that they stayed in their normal format & I believe lost a full rating point.

So yeah considering they made no gains in 2011 & still made the switch this past season I would say its clearly a defensive move rather then an attempt to bank on a ratings jump or compete with b101.
