PHILADELPHIA ARBITRON RATINGS RELEASED: HOLIDAY 2010

Are OGL's days numbered, it was rumored they would continue to sink and do something....they should stop being Motown/Soul 98, like they have been for decades and broaden the playlist, how much longer can their audiance tolerate: Can't Help Myself and Sugar Pie Honey Bunch LOL. I finally had a chance to listen to their 70's HD-2 last night, they have been off so long, but between the drops and the revert back to the main signal I noticed. Its a stale predictable playlist, every other song is a Motown/Soul Classic, you think on the HD-2 they would be more creative. I hope their HD-4, if they ever change it, would be just like KLUV's HD-2 in Dallas, what a great playlist.

Everyone's days are numbered in the literal sense. Say it enoug times and someday down the road it'll be true. But holding one's breath in anticipation might not be advised.

WYSP 6th in cume 6+ AND no Holiday music... too bad about the ever present 2 share...

I'm guessing much of the cume is during the 4 Eagles games that were played during this period. The next book includes the one playoff game. The book after that, we'll see how much of the cume is just Eagles coverage.

I think the WOGL drop is related to their deciding not to flip to holiday music. We'll see what happens next book. Then again, they dropped the year they flipped, too. Any station appealing to adult women is going to suffer during the Holiday book, whether they play holiday music or not.

They dropped less when they flipped to Christmas in 2009. I can see them going all-Christmas again this year. Maybe it'll perpetually oscillate with all-Christmas only every other year. But you'd think people who don't want Christmas music would listen to WOGL and WBEN instead.

Sunny 104.5 used to be head-to-head with B101 when they were all-Christmas, probably because they started that tradition in Philly, but since 2006, no one else who tried all-Christmas came close to B101.

I'm surprised Hot 97 from New York City has a cume of 28,800 listeners in Philly over the air. It's hard to believe that 28,800 people drove to New York City and listened to Hot 97.

A lot of the small cume numbers look too big to be believed. 28,000 people listening to Hot 97. 25.300 listened to NYC's Z-100, despite the presence of a local station on the same frequency. The WPEN web stream goes from 24k to not showing to 29k.

WISX had a god-awful book. I wonder why they didn't just switch to Christmas music. If the January book is just as miserable, I doubt they will keep the Hot AC format for long. They were doing better cume and share wise as a Rhythmic AC hybrid.

Diary Meter placement, sample sizes, extrapolation...the numbers at the bottom are probably guesswork much more than the ones at the top. The last Trenton ratings had a zero cume for WIP...I live in the Trenton market and listened to WIP during that period, so that's not literally the truth.

Why does Arbitron even have this book? What's the point? No one is playing the same music or doing the same thing NOW...more than a month later. No one buys the results of this "holiday book" in their Spring or late Winter budget....so it's nothing but a waste.

The book is only called "holiday" because they needed a name for the 13th book. There are 13 books, 4 weeks each. 13 X 4 = 52 weeks. The other 12 books are named for the 12 months, but they're not really the book for those months. They're for 4-week periods, just like this one. There's nothing special or different about this book versus the others. It's just another 4 week period.

Or are you suggesting that they just shouldn't have ratings at all for this period of the year?

Maybe people will buy their holiday 2011 advertising based on the holiday 2010 book.

Heys guys who has the ratings for each time slot/show?

How can I see the ratings fro Bonnaduce vs.Preston Steve vs.Debella or Cataldi vs Mike + Mike?

Thanks
