I saw on NBC40 South Jersey that they sent one of their own reporters to Lincoln Financial Field to cover the game. It is amazing how the eagles are so popular in the South Jersey Shore.

Dennis, I'm trying to understand your point here. You've got half a dozen or so threads going about NBC40 and NY-Philly signal over-lap, all of which could have been covered in one post. Now this post about the Eagles, which I don't get either. What is the point you are trying to make or what is the question you are trying to ask here?

And why are you surprised a local station would do a story in the Iggles in the play-off. AC is Iggles territory and always has been. Again, I keep feeling there's something you're not saying here (or in your similar posts on the New York TV board). Cards on the table, please.

Why wouldn't they send a reporter to cover the Eagles game? Perhaps, WMGM doesn't get up to the Eagles on a regular basis (like the Philadelphia stations do), so the Eagles playoff run warrants them to send a reporter and photographer. Also, there may be some Giants fans in the South Jersey, which would gain viewer interest for Channel 40.

Yes, I am wondering what is your sudden obsession in multiple threads on multiple forums about WMGM-TV. Can you please elaborate on this?

I am a person who is very interested in NYC Phily Overlap especially in Ocean County and I would like to see WMGM tv in Ocean County. I have an interest on the NYC tv and Philly TV divide in NJ

I'm sorry. I still don't get it. Why the interest? And why do you need three stations with the same NBC shows?
You put 10 in your handle but it sounds like you have special interest in 40. Do you work there?

Originally TV markets were defined by viewer behavior - what people actually watched. People had antennas and in Central Jersey they could point them at New York and/or Philly. Both markets had independent stations and more local programming on the network stations; there was a lot less duplication between the two markets - more different programs available in the pre-cable era. Even as far away as Northeast Philly (north of Cottman) most people got "New York antennas" to watch New York TV - again, before cable. Now people are assigned to markets and only a few locations which once had a lot of bi-market viewing get grandfathered in for local TV from two markets. But since the New York and Philly schedules are almost identical (except for local news and ballgames), it doesn't matter much.

Spot on, Fred! I'm old enough to remember the bars in NE Philly and Camden/Burlington counties that proudly advertised "NYC TV here!" You'd see this massive freakin' Yagi on the roof with a rotor, heavily guyed. It was a real draw for football. Other than for sports, nowadays it makes little difference what city's TV you watch. It's all the same, save local news.

And what is this obsession with WMGM-TV that Dennis has? It'll never be on cable in Ocean County. Hell, it barely puts any OTA signal in here (maybe southern Long Beach Island and Tuckerton areas), and it isn't on CrapCast's fiber hub.
