Philadelphia International Records Suffer Fire Damages

The legendary Philadelphia International Records Studios suffered fire damage earlier this week. The property has a long history dating back to the dawn of Rock & Roll. It was once the home of Cameo Parkway Records. See rare pictures and read the amazing true story here about the legend of the history of the music that was recorded on Broad Street in Philadelphia, and the signifigance it payed in setting the major Sound of Philadelphia trends on early AM radio.

sam....this is very sad news! i saw the report on channel 6 and i just about cried! so much history in that building alone!
from what i heard most of the master recordings are saved.i hope the building itself can be repaired!
i enjoyed your story you put up as well.i do remember seeing "keem-0-sabe" on that blue marmaduke 45 back in 69.
i have it on UA.still plays like new.long live the philly sound.cameo/parkway,swan,gamble,fatback,fast eddie,TSOP and philly
international records.and other labels from the city of brotherly love.and the artists too.

How many Metal, Rock, Country, Beach/Surf, Folk, Teen Idol and Bubblegum productions came out of that place....waiting.....thought so....

And that matters because...why? One individual not liking a particular type of music hardly diminishes its significance or appeal to much of the rest of the world, nor the historic value of that building.
