Philadelphia Mayor Street to address city tonight

Tonight Mayor street will address the city of Philadelphia in a 7 PM EDT speech from the studios of WPVI-TV 6. The address will be about skyrocketing number of violent crimes in the city and what are his plans to do something about it. WHYY 90.9 FM and KYW 1060 AM will carry the speech live

Did anyone catch the speech? Street promised more social programs in order to curb gun violence in filthadelphia.

Social programs!!!!! Does everyone feel safe yet? Let's all meet tonight around 2 AM at 2nd and Lehigh and discuss the issue of too many R&B stations in the city.

With these new social programs, no doubt we can "zip a dee doo dah" our way through the streets in order to to gain more rock, standards, and real oldies stations on the dial.

Leave it to a lib to negotiate with terrorists.

It was such a joke to see this ferret head trying to read the Q-cards, the moron cannot even speak clear.[EDIT] Why didn't he just say put WURD and WHAT off the air for spewing hate and also to eliminate all Rap music due to its violent nature. If you notice this is the first time Philly had an overload of Rap and Hip Hop stations and the crime is on the up also. I bet Rizzo is spinning in his grave.

[EDIT= inflammatory]

So glad I left many years ago. Back in 1950, Philly was ranked the 3rd largest market. Now it's 6th. Camden believe it or not, was the one of the manufacturing capitals of the world. It was the silicon valley of the 20's and more, that' s what developed it's city limits that they have now. Then it stunted.

What does Mayor Street's political agenda have to do with Philadelphia radio? Nothing. What does this topic have to do with radio? Nothing. The only reason this thread is getting by is because Julius talked about radio stations the speech was aired on. That's how he gets away with posting silly ramblings just for the sake of posting. Do something about Julius once and for all. I'm way past sick and tired of him...and I'm not the only one either.

Julius is not the problem, the other posters are.

I don't think so, I have seen WURD and WHAT mentioned, which are both a menace to society and are radio topics. As the poster stated, they should be disbanded, dismantled and put to rest, with other viable formats proposed and adapted on their frequencies. Rap is a problem, with lyrics and images, it causes problems, like it or not, believe it or not, it is a factor in shootings, rapes, drugs and robberies and much more, if you don't think so, you never lived the life in the hood. Plus, whats wrong with a poster reminding us how Philly/Camden got their start. I think you are the one that has a mental block and are very narrow minded, I have read apco's posts and they are very informative.

yeah sure a music is part of problem of violience, thats the stupidest thing ever, violence is part of life, you can't stop it and you can't fight it

[EDIT*].
Violence can be stopped and put to a minor fraction. Not wiped out entirely, but without your pacifist thought process, it can be detered.
Look at China, even with their problems it's been under 10 murders a year.
I've met people from Haiti, Middle East, Kuwait and even neighboring Canada, which has an average of 6 murders a year. You can still leave your doors and windows open, and the worst scenario is that the only thing that will be missing is your food supply from starving natives.
The gold ring, mp3 player, IPOD, and even your WAMS bumper sticker will still be there when you return. If caught, your hand is removed, that's why they still leave their doors open. And freely walk outside. Anywhere.
I see little girls in Mexico walk down alley ways at night, and if messed with .......you'll never see the light of day again. Even if your let out, you'll be dealing with very vigilante citizens. Not protest posters.
Oh it could be stopped.....rap music lyrics, or no rap music lyrics, it can be stopped.
Try it in India, and your Radio Info career will be over. Indian communities here in the United States have very miniscule crime.
This is why the whole liberal thing of tolerance, social programs, and alternative education has made eveyone miserable. Under the old conservative red neck way of ruling , it would've never escalated to this degree.
Even in Philly.
[EDIT**]

[EDIT*=ad hominem attack][EDIT**=inflamatory]

Perhaps the poster meant rap/hip-hop GLORIFIES the violent nature/lifestyle?

As far as Julius goes, internet snoozefest nonwithstanding (they think he's on a plane with Jerry Clifton, Mike Joseph and Dan Ingram!!!), I find his posts to be boring and of little intellectual value.

If you have such a problem with his postings, don't read them.

::)

Mayor Street does not care about the people of Philadelphia. He wasn't gonna take the pension when he was running, got re-elected, took the pension. He is a lame duck that couldn't care less about the streets of Philly. Safe streets was a 1st term 'project' used to get re-elected. If it was so successful, why haven't we seen a re-incarnation of it during the 2nd term? Yeah, exactly, like I said, "Mayor Street does not care about the people of Philadelphia" that's why.
