Philadelphia Radio PPM Ratings: October 2017

Anyone know how WTDY does in the demo? I really thought they'd be able to carve out a little more than a 2.5 in the 6+ numbers. 900,000+ in cume ain't so bad.

Is 7.5 the highest WIP-FM has ever been? Even with the current sports environment, I was surprised by this!

What's the deal with WOGL? I mean, I wouldn't be crying if I were them or anything but to go from mid-7's to low 6's in three months feels a tad strange. With MGK dropping a full point, I wonder if maybe male-skewing stations are suffering because so many people are currently spending so much time at 94.1? Just a theory.

Using a multi-book average, they are at an 11th in 25-54 and the highest is 7th in 25-34.

Are companies embedding PPM signals in their HD side channels? Has anyone ever seen any of them show up in a ratings book?

Surprisingly, WRFF-HD2 has popped in at a 0.1 (Persons 6+) a couple of times. That's with no translator, and with WMMR in market.

I am happy to see WRFF 104.5 holding very steady, even going up .1 to 3.9- almost a 4 share! I do think they should continue to tweak their playlist and still wish they would throw in a few classic alt-rock tunes just to spice up the usual current hipster stuff. I think WOGL has gone done from 6.6-6.2 because I've heard their music- and it's terrible. But I'm not their target demographic, but I mean come on- it's like they're stuck in 1987.

It will not shock me if 96.5 and 1210 AM undergo some changes. Those 2 stations are consistently having low ratings among the 6 CBS radio stations in town. There always seems to be a huge gap in the rating between the 4th rated CBS radio station in town and 1210 AM or 96.5 .

Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes rock and pop music from the early/mid 1960s through the mid/late 1980s (sometimes early/mid 1990s). The format, which came in vogue around the beginning of the 21st century, is considered as a contemporary version of the oldies format.

Again with the same tired spiel? I guess this time tossing in 96.5 is a change of pace, but enough with the repetitive stuff about 1210 on an endless loop. It is what it is.

Actually, the standard definition of “Classic Hits” today is early to mid 70’s to the very early 90’s. While some stations may still have an occasional 60’s and early 70’s song, 60’s music is now pretty much the domain of “oldies” stations.

Changes of a few tenths of a share are generally statistically insignificant and represent normal wobble in the numbers. That is why agency buyers generally use multi-book averages instead of single book numbers.

1987 is right in the core years of a classic hits station.

wRFF does not have a ratings problem; it’s issues are purely related to the difficulty is selling that format.

HD-2 and beyond channels are encoded. Very few that don’t have a translator meet minimum reporting standards, though.

I never said WRFF had ratings issues. In fact, quite the opposite! I think overall they're doing incredibly well.
