Phillies Could Air On FOUR Stations During Playoffs

If by some miracle the Phillies and Mets make the NLCS, those games would also be heard here on WFAN.

Is Klein sure that the ESPN license allows ESPN affiliates to broadcast LDS or LCS games in local markets where the teams are playing? Has WPEN been airing Sunday Night Baseball games where the Phillies play?

I know there's something weird for the World Series, where flagships of the 28 teams not playing in it are offered the ESPN feed before (or in addition to?) the regular ESPN affiliate, or something like that. Also, for the teams playing in the World Series, their flagship stations are allowed to do local coverage, but the team's non-flagship network affiliates can't take the local coverage - they have to take ESPN's coverage. But I don't think any of that applies to the LDS or LCS.

i'm pretty sure Phillies radio network has exclusive rights in home market. If you remember in regards to the WS, this came about after the 1980 WS, when Philly fans complained in large numbers about NBC not allowing Harry Kalas do PBP.

Phillies playoff games to air on 950 ESPN also?

It appears that 950 ESPN will also carry the Phillies playoff games from the ESPN radio feed. To me, that doesn't make any sense. Most sports fans in this town know that you listen to the local radio broadcasts of playoff games, not the national broadcast. Everyone will be tuned to 1210 AM for the Phillies playoffs, not 950 AM.  http://www.philly.com/inquirer/local/20080928_Inqlings__Strong_inside_move_for_new_76er.html

I believe one Sunday night game, vs. the Mets (first series of the season?) was broadcast on WPEN as well as WPHT and WUBA. I don't recall if WIP was part of that or not, altho I believe they were rumored at one point.
