Phillies in Spanish

When WDAS-AM switched to R&B oldies, the word was the Spanish broadcast of Phillies baseball would be on 1310. But now it seems to be on 1310 some of the time and 1480 for other games. What's up with that?

To give the Spanish speaking fans coverage of the game. Just like ESPN's Spanish channel. It aired in Philly on 860 for awhile. Dodgers and many other teams offer this.

And why do it? Its another way to make money!

Why can't they air the games on the spanish language AMs. It would make more sense. That's like airing hockey broadcasts on WDAS-FM.

Ah, That is exactly what they are doing! 1310 is Spanish. 1480, until last December, was the Spanish station home of the Phillies.

Just because 1480 flipped formats in December doesn't mean Clear Channel can just toss their contract with the Phillies aside. Now if they have another Spanish language station in the market they could move the games to (which they don't) they're still obligated to carry the games there.
