Phillies radio broadcasts in 2012

Does anyone think that WPHT will remain the Phillies flagship station in 2012 or will another Philly radio station take over the Phillies broadcasts?

it will remain. CBS seems to enjoy a lock on baseball and football. There is no reason to change. They do as good a job or better than any other station would/could do. Clear Channel has about 6 people in the whole world working for them now, so who is left? Greater Media? I suppose they would be the other logical choice, if need be.

"Clear Channel has about 6 people in the whole world working for them now..."

Cheaper (channel) by the (half) dozen! :D

Give them credit - that CC runs a mean Pirates Radio Network!

If CBS moves the sports format to one of their FM signals, the Phillies will go with it. If not, they will likely retain it on 1210 unless Greater Media offers a boatload (which they might do).

Well, that kind of covers all bases (pun intended). ;)

Greater Media part with a boatload of $ for Phillies radio rights? LMAO!!! NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Repeat...NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Next joke....

Greater Media is making pretty decent expenditures on local content in 2011, which is more than you can say for any other company in Philadelphia other than CBS. Greater Media employs Preston & Steve, Pierre Robert, John DeBella and Mike Missanelli. I don't think it's a stretch that they might pay for sports play by play if they thought the ratings bump would justify it.

1. What's your definition of "pretty decent expenditures?"

2. Yes, they pay the air talent you listed good money, but ask those who work different shifts on air how much they're making and in most cases it's a by-the-hour (cheap) rate.

3. BIG DIFFERENCE between paying five people large dough and multi-year, radio rights fees for the Phillies circa 2011-12.

Simply not going to happen, NOT in the company's DNA.

I meant relatively, compared to its competitors in the market.

The fact that they still put a station like WMMR on the air in 2011 says something good about them.
