Philly format wheels

Is 97.5 Philly's newest format wheel?

In the past 5 years, 97.5 was: CHR, Classic Rock, Smooth Jazz, AC

All-Christmas is there's a brain in the head of anyone over there. Or better yet, a '90s-heavy Hot AC, then all-Christmas, then back to a '90's-heavy Hot AC. Of course, if they want to go Soft AC, playing hits of the '60s, '70s, and '80s, I'm down with that too! I wouldn't even mind if they voice-tracked it. (I know, I know. But I still miss Sunny!)

No, 95.7 and 104.5 all went thru a string of formats that couldn't survive in space of 10 years. 97.5 has sofar only had one failed format. It lost CHR, because the owners wanted to sell the frequency, but not the format. So it was switched. The new owners already owned a classic rock station, so one had to be killed off for that reason, not bad ratings.

Ofcoarse time might change this. Lets see how now does.

I sometimes think about Star 104.5. If they had stuck it out a bit longer and had reverted to their Hot AC format (circa 1996), they would have seemed cutting-edge when Rhythmic AC started making its sweep. Star may actually have been looked to as the barometer. And they might still be on today. Sister Q102 would be skewing much younger and we never would have heard of Wired 96.5!
