I just got back from my vacation in King of Prussia. I brought my Walkman with me. Turns out I needed it to listen to radio as the newly remodeled Alloy Hotel by Double Tree on West DeKalb Pike no longer has clock radios in their rooms.
90.1 WRTI - Fantastic station with its mix of Classical and Jazz Music. Very relaxing to listen to.
95.7 WBEN-FM. BEN-FM sounds like your typical Variety Hits station. Some of their liners are very cheesey.
98.1 WOGL. - Wow! WOGL sounds like a train wreck. Very different from when they were Oldies.
98.9 WUSL. Power 99 is getting the job done as Philly's Hip-hop station despite being owned by iHeart.
100.3 WRNB - 100.3 R&B and Hip-Hop is an okay station, though the branding is lame.
102.9 WMGK - MGK sounds like a very boring Classic Rock station. Sounds similar to 102.9 The Whale the Classic Rocker in my home marker of Hartford.
103.9 WPHI - KYW NewsRadio 103.9/1060 did an excellent job providing nearly wall-to-wall coverage Thursday afternoon of the Emergency in Montgomery County. I was surprised that the TV stations didn't break into programing,
107.9 WPPZ - Classix 107.9 seems to get the job done with their mix of 70s/80s R&B/Soul
The most interesting station I picked up was 92.9 WZML-LP, a 5 watt station licensed to Bryn Mawr with studios in Wayne an their antenna in Valley Forge. They play a very eclectic mix of Oldies Music.
A surprise pick up on the AM Band Day and Night was 1340 WHAT which is doing Spanish CHR as La Kalle 99.9 using the frequency of their FM translator as their branding.
Other notes: When did WJBR add MIX 99.5 to their branding? Two out of market powerhouse pick ups were 102.5 WRFY Reading and that damn religious station from Boyertown 107.5 WBYN. Also at times 106.5 WRDY-LP Eagleville, which runs Emergency Information was coming in clearer on 106.6 FM than on 106.5 FM.
The above stations are the only ones I really listened to and I really didn't listen to any for a long period of time.
