Philly Radio in 2006

There is to be no doubt as to the veracity of this argument, since I am going to base this on what others have posted in 2005...

104.5 FM;
There won't be any Christmas music on Sunny next year, we all know that in 2006, Sunny 104.5 will be a Kountry Klassics station featuring great artists such as Hank Williams Sr., Tammy Wynette, etc. This MUST happen because Sunny CAN NOT continue to operate the way it has in the past. Cheap labor is Un-American, and the suits will realize that they are putting peoples livelihood in jeopardy by not soliciting the most expensive air talent and paying them a competitive wage. We all know that Kountry Klassics is a cheap enough format to run to compensate for the expensive wages that MUST be paid, and there HAVE to be sponsors for it...after all, that's what we've been told. And Philly as we all know is a hot bed for old Country 78 RPM records. Sally Starr will host 24/7. No if's, ands, or buts.

B101 FM;
There can be NO more Christmas music on the "B." With the impending WAR ON CHRISTMAS, combined with the fact that there will be NO MORE specualtion on Radio-Info pertaining to whom will switch first, there will be NO REASON whatsoever to play Christmas music. After all, the only reason B101 plays it is to keep us here at Radio-Info guessing about WHICH station will make the switch first. There is to be no argument about this...it is fact.

WMMR
Everyone knows that 93.3 will be REAL OLDIES. Helloooo!!!!! Haven't you heard Pierre playing those vinyl records? It's a conspiracy folks. After January 1st, there will be no need to discuss the WAR ON CHRISTMAS any longer. The war will be re-directed toward Rock music. Mr. Kerry was "for it" before he was "against it." The ONLY reason Pierre has been playing those records is to make sure that the turntables still work...After all, The Geator must be able to play his scratchy records on the air when he arrives next year. HOW CAN ANYONE NOT HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT?

WYSP
David Lee Roth? Barsky? Kidd Chris? Give me a break. Doesn't anyone know what is really going on here? Barsky HAS to work at every station in Philly. So obviously FREE FM is only temporary. WMMR and WYSP MUST ALWAYS be in competition with each other. So with Hy's departure from WOGL, 94.1 will become..."Free Hy-Lit Radio," this is to ensure the continuing battle between MMR and YSP, and the 50 year battle between Hy Lit and The Geator. Kim "Jug A Lugs" Douglas will stay on at the station to giggle giggle, chuckle chuckle every time Hy Lit says something cool like, "It's a party, grab some ice, the records are hot and the folks are nice." We CAN NOT deviate from the norm.

WTTM
This one is easy as pie to figure out...The latino population is exploding. We CAN NOT continue to force these people to listen to a low power station in New Jersey...it simply can not accodomate they're requirements. Everyone knows that we can ONLY use the low power X Band for dying formats...Pierre, DeBella, Debbie Calton, and Andre Gardner will sign on the ALL NEW..."Rock 1680 WTTM."

AND FINALLY, What are we going to do with....950 WPEN?
Back to standards? Nah, too old. We must realize that corporate America hates old people, and we only keep them around so we can listen to their bitching. Sorry, THERE WILL BE NO MORE STANDARDS...

No need for real oldies, MMR and YSP are battling it out...however the station MUST return to music. After all, we've agreed that IBOC only exists to annoy all of us, and we find it PARTICULARY annoying when it is used with music. This being said, WPEN CAN NOT continue as a sports station. I think the answer is obvious...

After Spanish language programming goes to 92.5 FM Dubya XTU, Lee Richards and the gang will introduce us to "Country 950 WPEN." Obviously there is a WAR on any NEW music...so all new music MUST go to AM and all of the Klassics must return to FM Stereo. Granted, it won't be as much fun reading all of the complaints about IBOC because everyone knows that people who listen to country music don't have computers, but so long as they can HEAR the annoying humming while driving their pick up trucks, that's what really counts.

This is just one man's opinion.

Brilliant

I love you.

Re: Brilliant

> I love you.

Thanks...I'm glad you appreciate my spoof on Philly radio and inparticular some of the posts that we have seen here in recent weeks. I only found this board about 4 months ago, but I enjoy reading everyone's opinions about the current state of radio.

It always amazes me how people can react to certain things they read. Sometimes when I spend time here I have questions to ask, or an opinion about a particular post, and there are times when I feel creative and want to do something unexpected to create a positive reaction. I like people to enjoy what they read and to get people to not only think outside the box, but perhaps even laugh when appropriate.

Obviously this post was ridiculous and not meant to be taken literally. I simply took some of the things that I remember from some of the previous posts I've read and injected them into creating this. Some of the posts are very opinionated, while others are factual...and some are simply ridiculous. But I think we have a good thing going here on a consistent basis and I hope it continues to grow even more into The New Year!

More changes...

95.7 - BEN will die, it will be turned into Energy 95.7, playing Philly's hottest dance hits

96.5 - Since Beasley can't let GM have the big dance market in Philly to itself, it will flip 96.5 to iParty96.5, playing dance music

100.3 - Y100 will come back

102.1 - Come on, Clear Channel's gotta get on the dance scene. Q102 will play dance music too

102.9 - El Sol 102.9, the station will play Spanish music like the old pirate on 95.3

105.3 - Real oldies 105.3, playing the best hits of the 40s, 50s, and early 60s

106.1 - NewsTalk 106.1 WWDB, bring back FM talk

106.9 - This station will be seized by the Devil and since he burns everything, it won't exist anymore

107.9 - My high school will buy that station and put WWPH on it, and increase its power to a gazillion watts.<P ID="signature">______________

here's a good idea buy an xm or sirius radio or get it activated in your new auto, garantee you will be listening to that 99 percent of time vs. the crapola on philly controlled corp. radio just nasty now on the radio dial either they start adding digital sub channels with some diverse music or face dying in 5 years. we have already seen radio ad prices being cut because of other media cutting into corp radio. philly radio is bottom of the barrel.
