With the Steelers in the Super Bowl, will Philly ratings for the big game be higher? I would assume, minus the Eagles, the Steelers must get big time ratings in the Philly market

I don't think anyone cares about the Steelers in Philadelphia.

It'll give me someone to root for while I watch the commercials!

The Steelers are PA's true team. From Harrisburg on it's Steelers country!

Outside of Philly itself you're more likely to find people that root for adjacent market teams like the Giants, Redskins & Ravens.

as one who lives in harrisburg and is a major steelers and penn state fan, i'll try to be as objective as i can.

harrisburg is nearly dead even in terms of steelers-eagles following. the ravens are waaaaay behind. not counting those who follow other teams - apart from the redskins - i'd say it breaks down like this:

47% eagles
43% steelers
6% ravens
4% redskins

though the cbs channel in harrisburg MUST carry the ravens road games per nfl rules, the steelers outdraw the ravens by a near 5 to 1 margin. the tv ratings between the eagles on fox43 and steelers on whp cbs21 are neck and neck.

in the 80's, the redskins were a close third to the steelers and eagles, probably due to the 'skins holding training camp in nearby carlisle and doing quite well in the first gibbs era.

it's funny, but a year ago, in the midst of the eagles-mania, i went to the local wal-mart and i'd say 75% of the males were in eagles gear. i did the same last night at the same wal-mart and again, i'd say 75% of the men and boys were attired in steelers gear.

we all love a winner!! ;-)
