Phoenix Arbitron Radio Ratings: May 2012

kzon continues to look "pretty" 6+ and w/ teens...but it still only billing 45% of what kzzp is (i've seen this w/ my own eyes). there is NO money in the young demos anymore. all the money is 18-49 and older. they are 4th'ish in that demo. but while CC can combo kzzp and mix- cbs has no such answer. plus- JJ and Rich are endorsement machines. again, kzon has no answer for that.

the days of pepsi and coke spending big money on young radio is over. they spend where the young listeners have gone- the internet.

we all know- the only thing that matters in radio is the $...the rest is for show.

"Beginning March 2012, Arbitron only releases ratings for subscribing stations."

KJZZ and KFYI best KTAR's "talk-monologue" format. Again. (Was killing the phone lines really a good idea?)

The Lumberyard beats 960 KKNT talk, and 1100 Russell Pearce/brokered colon blow!

LOL

The Lumberyard really is the little station that could. For the last few months, KAZG has consistently gotten that 0.1 rating with a slight increase in Cume since going 24/7 back in April. Next up for the Lumberyard appears to be HD radio, which will finally make getting an HD radio in Phoenix worth the added cost. It really is a testament to the Lumberyard that they can beat out a 50,000 watt day-time station (1000 watts at night) in the form of KFNX.

KFNX = a waste of a monster day-time signal!

Actually, it gets a 0.1 share. Its rating is 0.0.

To put that in perspective, there are about 3,571,000 million 6+ persons in the metro. Of those, at any given moment, 200 are listening to KAZG.

The PA at Home Depot has more listeners.

Man, way to be a Debbie Downer David. Either way, it's still better than what KFNX is currently pulling in with their 50,000 watt monster signal!

But, I suspect, KFNX actually makes money.

The East Valley home of the Lamptimer (tm) had to go into violation of all kinds of rules for them to buy it a new Nautel. That sounds like a station that is not profitable and is not billing much of anything. BIA gives a "0" billing estimate, while KFNX is doing about $80 k a month. Considering that both are deficient AMs (in Phoenix, essentially all AMs are deficient), billing anything is notable.

Why is buying a new rig a "vioation of all kinds of rules"? As long as you tell
Uncle Charlie "Harris out...Nautel in," what's the problem?
