It's both interesting and sad to see Mix continue to decline. I happened to listen in the morning this week - Mathew Blades sounds strong, yet he's paired with a couple of people who sound like kids and sound very uncomfortable on the air. Is Mix trying to get away with cheap staff or interns? I would expect Mix to do a bit more in recruiting and finding strong talent for this brand. Kind of sad that they have let mornings sound so sophomoric. Makes it sound a bit like a clown show.

Has anyone else noticed this shift in the quality of their morning show?

Mix sat around with no competitors and now it has two directly in their format. It's tough for any station to sustain that.

Pretty big jump for KSLX. Good to see them coming back.
KTAR FM continues to drop. Time for a good house cleaning. Rob "know-it-all" Hunter adds nothing to the mid-day show.

Count the listeners under the age of age of 55 on 92~Three. Then count the listeners over the age of 55 on 5~Fifty. Doesn't look like the house needs a good cleaning after all.

Actually, KTAR-FM was way down last year and has seen a decent increase from last year, steadily remaining around 4.3 on average so far this year. The station that keeps surprising me is 99.9 KEZ. I don't know anyone (at least in my age group) who listens to that station on a daily basis. For people I know, it's all about MIX, the PEAK, KISS, KZON, KSLX, KNIX, KUPD, KMLE and KOOL. No one I know listens to KEZ (or at least they won't admit it!) Maybe it's the fact that KEZ is everybody's favorite back-up station when nothing else is on. It also always seems to be the station played the most at businesses around town. I just don't understand KEZ's staying power, especially now that we're 6 months removed from the holidays.

Last, but not least, congrats to our beloved Lumberyard for maintaining that 0.1 share for a third book now. At this rate, maybe we'll see a 0.2 share before the year is out!

Check with your female associates. I'm guessing the majority of female commuters all listen to KEZ's morning show. Beth McDonald is entertaining. As for their music....ugh! Beth does three segments on the KSAZ-TV morning show each weekday and is usually very funny (and somewhat adult in her humor). I've never listened to her radio show but assume it is more of the same.

But Jorge, look at it differently...we're six months closer to All Ho, Ho, Ho Music!

That must be one screwed-up Purple People Meter as Lumberyard 14~Forty is stuck on 0.1. But who knows? Playing 10 Beatles songs each hour, and The Weight every two hours, may be what it takes to get a 0.2 ;)

Which reminds me.....on TV today she said KEZ wasn't one of the first stations to begin holiday music but I seem to remember it starting very early last year or the year prior.

Personally, the first appearance of holiday music drives me to delete that pre-set from my radio immediately.

KTAR is doing very very well in 25-54, moving from the 10th to 15th range they lived in in the last half of 2012 to a new Top 10 range that averages around 7th so far this year.

Yeah, I work in a building of all women and the age range is about 20-70 and it's about the only station on. Sometimes I think they're waiting for the Christmas music to start.

Sorry, Doc, I posted before I read your comment. Must be true :)
