PHOENIX ARBITRON RATINGS: May 2011

Looks like the move from background to foreground is working at KYOT. Too bad, as the thread entitled "KYOT- New Format Is A Bummer" would make you believe 95~Five was headed for the bottom of the heap. Meanwhile, over at KFWhyEye...all the Nurse and I can say is YIKES  Guess being on HD-2 aint the answer!

KYOT is #20 P 25-54 - up from #22 a year ago - so I wouldn't call that "working"

But good news - KYOT is now #1 in the advertiser hotbed of 55+ - up 70% from a year ago

KMLE (#13) beats KNIX (#15) 25-54 with both Country stations outside the top 10 and KNIX off big month to month

Remember, they were still in their "hybrid" format and not full-blown rhythmic AC when the period ended.

The KMLE-KNIX battle will always go back and forth. It's as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

"battle"?

thats like saying "the clippers and the warriors will always go back and forth....battling for position in the draft lottery".

country is dead in phx

Look at that thing falling from the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's KFYI's ratings! Look out below! Aaaaaaaaaah!!!!! Amazing how in four short years it's gone from the #1 overall station to the #3 news/talk station, even falling behind KJZZ! Yes Smokey, karma's a bitch!
Oh, and regarding your sig Akbar, the former mayor's last name is spelled Rimsza. Just thought I'd let you know...

And to think that nearly four years ago that we were talking about KZON's decision to drop "Free FM" for Rhythmic Top 40.

Well, its almost June 22nd, 2011, and look where they are...

Don't forget about KAZG, who keeps it going with their 0.1 share. Those golden oldies from the Lumberyard are finally getting recognition in the ratings! A big thanks goes out to the mysterious listener who is driving around Phoenix with a PPM meter blasting the Lumberyard! ;D

I wonder how snooze-talk 92 ponto tres is doing in the demos that count? Are Mac y Gaydos keeping Aunt Edna happy?

KTAR FM = #13
KFYI = # 17

Yeah, 6+, big whoop.

My guess is KTAR does much better in the sellable demos. The question is, does Clear Channel care about KFYI? They have several stations in the top 10 and I bet Mix and KEZ bell especially well. KFYI could go "back to the future." When the Beer Baron owned it, KFYI was supposed to be the loss leader and money was made by 92.3. It didn't really work out that way, but maybe it will now.

Bottom line: Talk is STALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What I wouldn't give to listen to a day of KFYI when Barry and Bob were whoopin' it up and radio was fun...

Shouldn't that be the Lumberyard blasting a PPM meter ??? Nurse Jeff and I want to get to the bottom of this burning question: Is that one listener digging worn out oldies, or groovin' on the Bollywood hits?

Uh-oh. Did you just bust KLL?

And on a related note...does anyone have the 25-54 rankings available?

I think KLL's fave station now is corporate cousin K-Slacks, however I don't think she's
eligible to be PPM-ing.

KFNX, getting beaten by 1310, Catholic apologist radio.

Talk radio is dying, time for KFYI to do some house cleaning.

And a tip of the fez to the Mighty 88 punto 3 for their strong showing...especially leading 92 punto 3! KNAI is the FM equivalent of an Ancient Modulation daytimer, sharing the frequency with KPHF between 7:30pm and 5am. The Buckeye Boyz wonder why KPHF doesn't benefit from the strong ratings lead in provided by La Campesina ::) And we also wonder how the two stations split the cost of that lamptimer

And at 21st, Kay Effing Why Eye.

...that aint no Effing good, is it?....but we warned them muchos anos pasados!

Replace Barry with Barry!

Only time the show is listenable is when Markson hosts.

But, does anyone listen to Hannity, Limbaugh or Savage anymore?

Boring angry talk radio.

Except for when KKFR was the loss leader and KFYI paid everyone's salary... or at least that's what the AM people would say as we went down the front stairway. :)
