Phoenix Suns Theme from early 80s

Does anybody have a tape of the intro for Phoenix Suns basketball that used to play in the early to mid 80s? Both the Suns Warmup intro and the Suns game intro with the horns? I would thank you forever! ;-D

The Suns in the 80's and 90's used Sirrus by Alan Parson's Project for intros, they used a loop of BillY Idol's Hot in The City Intro..album version....for players warm ups, but if you're looking early eighties not sure what they used.
I worked there from 96-2005 so I know some of them

No, the one that had the singers going "Phoenix Sunnnnnnnnnnnssss"

And the big horn flourish at the end

Da da da da daa da da ta DAA DAA DAA!

So it has the same melody as the one I posted to, right?

Either way it sounds amazing...if someone has it, please share!!

The one shared by justthenumbers is great! I like that theme too! Never heard it in its entirety like that, but indeed Legend City is on the right track. The one I'm after is the one from the early 80s that would have the singers going "Phoenix Suuuuuuns" and a bit of a flute flourish afterwards. Around the time Al was teamed with Dick Van Arsdale on color commentary. I SO want to have that! Thanks for sharing the other one though. Cool! (I always loved the Suns Warm up theme from that era too.)

Something else I'd love to see is video of the various intros (using that theme) that were shown on KUTP over the years as part of their coverage. At least in the 90's, they generally featured the Suns logo and a montage of videos of various Suns players.

I always enjoyed it when KTAR simulcasted KUTP's coverage...you would hear a shortened version of theme playing as they went into commercial breaks. (The games heard only on KTAR featured the theme, but only during pre-game, halftime, and post-game...not during the game itself.)

BTW, that theme is still heard in the background of commercials running on KTAR for a couple of businesses that advertise during game coverage. It might still be getting played on occasion inside US Airways Center as well.

So...no love? ;) Somebody must know somebody who has a recording of this. I'd be so fired up if someone comes through!

I believe the music in question is the intro to "Eye in the Sky" by the Alan Parson's Project. The intro was rarely played on the radio.

One of the rare times it was played was during "Suns Talk" (probably only at the end of the program?) on KTAR 620, at least in the mid-90's.

I know exactly what song you're referring to. The band played in the middle section in the corner at Veteran's and when they'd come out to warm up about 20 minutes before tip off, they'd play "the suns song". I've been searching for years to find it, and asked the suns if they have an audio clip of it, to no avail. Someone must have it!

It wasn't that, this was in the late 70's - mid 80's. The band was actually at the Arena and played it with horns and other instruments. Loved that song!

From what I remember, the Suns never used Sirrius as a theme song in the 80's. And they weren't the first NBA team to do it. The Chicago Bulls were and used that opening from 1991 to 1998. The Suns started using the same opening after Charles Barkley arrived for the 1992--19993 season
