Phoenix TV Stations Dumping Analog on the 17th?

After reading this thread, out of curiosity, I re-scanned my HDTV.
Initially, I could not get KNXV 15.1 or 15.2 with rabbit ears.
Fortunately, I can get them now.
However, still no luck pulling in AZ-TV HD OTA.
I must rely on my Dish Net receiver to get them, but not in HD.

I am on the north side around 35th Ave and Greenway.
Any suggestions?

A UHF antenna, preferably outdoor or in an attic, with high-gain pointed toward South Mountain should pick up 7.1 and 7.2. May I suggest the Terrestrial Digital DB2? Not the most eye-pleasing antenna, but it does the job (at least it did/does for me), and it can be placed inside as well.

I was just in your area recently (used to live at 31st & Greenway 35+ years ago) and had my laptop with me, so I tried to see what I could get with a 2' antenna attached to the car roof. Pulled into the K-Mart parking lot and couldn't get anything. Went across the street by the dollar store and was barely able to get both AZTV and K38IZ. I had my antenna pointed due south and I had to work at it a bit to get a watchable signal. I never got more than 50% signal, barely enough to generate a pixel-free picture. TV Fool shows the area as a strong signal zone for both stations, but I think it's a bit of a dead area, plus, you're at quite a distance for an LPTV station to reach. You'd be better off with a rooftop antenna, especially if you're near the shopping areas (I think the building blocked the signal in the K-Mart lot) or if you have trees near the south side of the house.

I don't think AZTV has gone to HD yet, but they should shortly.

Just checked and they've gone to 720p on the primary subchannel. RTN is still at 480i.

Dhett and Eric, I appreciate the responses.
As for using the Terrestrial Digital DB2, while I agree it's not the most pleasant looking piece of hardware, I live in an apartment complex directly across Greenway from K-Mart.
The apt owners and/or the property managers frown on any direct attachments to their buildings.
I considered their lack of sense of humor, but agreed with their thinking.
While not getting AZTV in HD OTA is not a deal breaker (I'll still watch via Dish Net receiver), I will move on to the next logical question:

Does anyone have an idea when AZTV will up-link their HD to Dish Net or even DirecTV?
If it's reasonably soon, my situation will be moot.

That's probably a question you should put to AZTV directly. As for an antenna, as long as it is not physically attached to the structure, you're OK to have one - they can't stop you.

The DB2 isn't as intimidating when you get it as it looks on their website. I've placed it behind my TV setup facing a wall on the carpet indoors. It still works wonders!

I don't know if or when the satellite companies will add AZTV HD to their lineups. It may depend on a number of factors, such as the amount of programming they actually broadcast in HD (I'm not sure if this past Thursday's Coyotes game was in HD).
