Just wondering if anybody else experienced anything simialr.
I did mornings at a station for 4 years. I LOVED the job. It was still a time when you could be and were expected to be involved in the community and actually make the job more than "just a show". I was pretty recognizable, wrote for a magazine and newspaper at the same time and really was building my stock with the listeners. Life was good.
Anyway, one day I had finally had enough of the PD. (Long story there but it was like asking Chris Angel to subordinate himself to Doug Henning!). I quit the job, despite the rumor mill stories propogated with the blessing of mangement.
For 11 days...11 HELLISH DAYS...I had absolutely NO VOICE. There was nothing there at all.
The doc said I was in shock and my body and mind were handling the situation by shutting down my vocal chords. Considering what I did for a living, this was one of the scariest things that could happen.
Anybody esle ever have anything like that happen.
