picking up M3u on a Barix Box

I've have been told a Barix 100 decoder can pickup a M3U stream but it requires a special setup anybody know how? Thanks in advance

Well, M3U is not a streaming format in itself, it's a playlist format that contains URLs to streams (usually MP3 but can be used for others) or local files. I guess if the Barix unit won't parse M3U playlists, you could open it in a text editor and manually type the stream URL listed in it into the Barix.

And that was just a wild guess on my part! Last time I set up an Instreamer (IIRC) I was using a direct link to the audio stream, not an M3U file. Glad it worked for you.

If you have the updated firmware on the Extremer, it will also write a .m3u file directly to your media automatically (thumb drive, for example.) The default 3rd option (if your streams go down or you don't have working streams/ want to run local) will call out to that .m3u file, so that is how the Extremer knows to go local and also gives you the ability to "shuffle" the files on the local playlist.
