If its one thing I've noticed on this forum, is that there is a lot of vindictiveness associated with what should be simple and honest criticizm.
 
ok, you want some of THAT... KLU is dull, lifeless,scripted and boring. when they happen to be playing the most exciting music of all time that people have a PASSION for, its a shame they don't have anyone on the air who can relate to it! jeff pidgeon is nothing more than a "Name", who can't relate to the music/core audience either. its about the MUSIC, its about entertainment, they need something more than an empty "NAME" in the air chair.

re "didn't get interview"... sour grapes not hardly, who would want to work at a lifeless, boring station that can't win due to power issues? i'm giving advice, ignore it at your peril. when someone "WHO GETS IT" puts this format ON with enough power to cover Marion county(after KLU) goes away, i'll give it a shot. I'm waiting for someone who understands PASSION-relatability and FUN.

by the way KLU made a "mistake" and accidently did something right... the NAP guys and Reb Porter on last week.
its people like this they need on the air, not 20 & 30 year olds who don't have a clue. but they work cheap don't they!

No, you're giving way too much credit. That was Pidge's idea.
 
ok, good idea then. in comparison though they outshined him and it pointed up how lame he is. i'm not from indy so i have no idea who pidge is, he doesn't impress me.

That's probably the key thing with a lot of the older personalities here in town ... I'm not from Indiana, so when I started listening to Bob and Tom I thought they were just ok. As they've gotten older (and obviously, I have as well, so perhaps is as much me as them), their stuff just isn't funny enough for me to listen to them on the drive in (let alone them laughing over everything ... growing up listening to Dr. Demento, he never told me when to laugh) ... I'd much rather do NPR or ESPN if I'm in the mood for talk. I have friends that know only Bob and Tom and admit they're not as funny as they used to be (Guess I never listened to them when they were that funny), but continue to listen to them because that's who they grew up listening too.

Those that like Pidge are those that have basically *grown up* with him. I mentioned previously in this thread that I like listening Pidge and Libby, but I'm not a fan of the current format ... So, while I jog past the station on the dial ... as soon as a song hits, I'm usually moving on. There are other personalities in town that I like, but honestly, it's the format that dictates most of what I listen to anymore. A jock can make me change the dial if he's bad, but it doesn't keep me from setting a preset (I listen to Q95 sometimes when they're playing music).
 
Bob & Tom are hilariously funny to...THEMSELVES... in fact the weather report is even funny on the Bob & Tom Show, must be they probably laugh at that too. i'm not from indy but i compete with them, and BEAT them regularly, doing a 1 person morning show in the same format as KLU. Bob & Tom are doing the same show they did 30 years ago, and you've heard it, that's whats going on.

the reason Jeff Pigeon doesn't fit in over there is the fact that he was never a "Star" doing a music show, and he still isn't.
Larry Lujack, John Records landecker, Dan Ingram were stars between the music, pigeon is out of his element. it seemed to worked on wibc because it was WIBC and force of habit to a large degree. he's not interesting, he's not funny, i'm not sure what the attraction is and judging from the decline of KLU, he's not helping, other than someones ego who bought a "name" to put on the radio.
 
for all we know Howard is dead, and they're just RE-RUNNING his old shows from 20 years ago...WHO would know?
come to think of it Sat radio IS dead!

By the way, if this thread ever gets back on the subject, LKU did a 0.7 in Oct, followed by two consecutive 4.0's. When the next 90 day trend comes out next week, January will replace October - it's VERY likely January will be a solid number, replacing a fluke in October.
When the station trends back up, will everyone ease up on this operator? Unlikely, 'cause it's only fun to pile on when someone you don't like is down. ;)
 
Let's assume you meant 'KLU (not LKU) in October wonder boy hired Pidge, invested significantly in outdoor, print and tv. If you know how to extrapolate the numbers you should. According to the arbitron results, the audience wklu was building rejected Mr. Pidge. proving once again Russ and Libby are horrible broadcasters, he is/was a rich broadcaster but a horrible one at that.
I'm willing to bet January isn't a great month for the people on Knue road, the sign in front of the building says it all. There's already been one significant reduction in the asking price. Me? I'm rolling my change 'til June. He'll be sick of losing 60-70,ooo per month by then....That's a lot of money I don't care who you are.
Hey Chief still waiting on those "real" MK numbers?
