PIGEON DROPPINGS

Yeah Radiobrat, that's so inciteful. That 0.7 October audience extrapolation - they were all rejecting Pigeon. That's why the audience levels stayed down the remainder of the book ... er, wait, that didn't happen. The book finished with consecutive 4.0's. I guess all the Pigeon "rejectors" left, and a bunch of Pigeon fans found the station?! Please.... :p

Keep re-arranging those deck chairs ...

Never had the privilege - only know those that did!

Kendall - your former boss is picking on you again - once a class act, always a class act.

Not everyone that sees the sinking of klu has to be a former employee - though that now seems include a majority of the jobless jocks in Indy.

oldskool = coldcoffee = mouseman = salepro1

Hard to sell a format no one listens to other than yourself via internet isn't it salespro?

nothing wrong with the format, in fact 60's-70's hits are doing well, couple of examples, look at LA & Chicago, and it did well in Indy before klu... WHAT'S wrong? lousy signal, meddling, micro-managing owner, gotta go he's on the HOT line again!!!!!!!!! DUH!

Another issue with WKLU is their pitched up music. I don't get to listen often, but was in the area Thursday and turned it off after a couple of songs. I just really don't think music needs to be pitched up for any reason. this after listening to the interviews with the WNAP, WIFE folks. NAP bragged on the air about playing a 45 at 45. They said WIFE played it at 47. Pitch the music back to where it should be.

radioho,
oldskool=cold coffee= salespro1 = Mouseman NOT! Nice try - you had a 50-50 shot, but alas you lose. I'm not Russ, a current or former employee of Russ. In fact, I turned down an opportunity to work for Russ. so, not a cheerleader in his camp - another one of your conspiracy theories gone awry. 8)

Ok let's do the math (w/my 15 years of experience) can we agree that wklu has 12 units per hour available - (3 breaks 4 units each)
Competitvely I am seeing $25 per :60 take out the PI's and let's assume they are performing at a 75% sell - out, I seriously doubt but just for the fun of it let's use that number.
Now let's also assume they charge that ($25) 6a-10p (16 hours 6 days a week) if you have to remind me there are 7 days go do something else, as most who are reading and understand this know I'm being generous ok here we go
12 (units) x 16 (hours x 6 (days) = 1152 x .75 (%) = 864 x $25 = $21,600 x 4.3 (avg Wks per month) = $92,880 x 12 (months) = 1,114,560. I certainly do not profess these numbers to me accurate - I'm willing to bet they are closer that mouseman's. Now mouseman w/your 28 years of experience you must know it's costs at least 100k per month to run that station, my professional opinion even more. Even if Pidge is tied to some ratings comp plan. Go ahead use my formula plug in your own numbers. Create a reverse cpp, do the math however you like it still equals a monthly loss.

$25? A proposal I recently viewed quoted $10 for a :60 on WKLU Mon-Fri 6a-10p.

I'd love to hear from the dutchman to find out how much the spots were going for BEFORE the studio was moved to Castleton. My guess - $15 to $20 per :60.

Could it possibly be that the station is getting LESS than when the Quinns were playing radio? At least they weren't foolish enough to throw millions into equipment, studios, music tests (a MUSIC TEST to find out if people wanted to hear Neil Young?) only to get $10 per spot.

The Quinns knew their format was unique and would only appeal to a small segment of the Indy audience, and always sounded like they were having fun doing it. I remember all those wacky bands that they'd promote (they flying tubas or whatever) that were appearing at the Vogue. It sounded like it would have been a fun place to work despite some of the industry misfits that worked there - but it had PERSONALITY and an INDEPENDENT sound to it.

Where did the personality go?

Dying to know... how did the trends look? Did we get the promised WKLU uptick since "October fell off"? I should get back into the biz just so I can get this info.

It's nice to know that more than two years after leaving the building I'm still the topic of conversation, but please move on. I have my own station now and could care less about what goes on with my former employer. Ho, since you seem to have so much time trolling the forum boards, I'd like to invite you down to North Carolina and see if WTXY passes your litmus test for serving our COL (www.wtxy1540.com). Anxiously awaiting your response.

I assume expenses will be covered? In all seriousness, sounds lively in the morning, but sounds automated in the afternoon. I only had a chance to check in short intervals, but sounds like you would pass the "ho test" on serving your COL.

Liked the 70s music, but "Harper Valley PTA"? Really? Would love to know how that music goes over in the south. Also couldn't imagine you're making a mint in that town, but nice to see not everyone's in it for the money.

And I had to laugh when I saw on your website that you have a 'hotline' number - I assume it's not for the same purpose as your previous employers?
