Pioneer GEX-P10HD tuner - reviews?

Anyone have some first hand experience with the GEX-P10HD for Pioneer head units?

Most of the HD stations in my area are just over 55 miles away, my head unit has a SuperTuner IIID tuner and pulls in the analogs crystal clear, but I'm leary about the HD signals.

I looked up the manual for the thing on Crutchfield.com (a VERY useful service of theirs, I might add). I note that my head unit, the 5900, is not listed. But the 4900 is. The 4900 is a Supertuner 3, and the 5900 a 3D. So apparently it is not compatible with the 3D's, but is with the 3's.

I looked at the sensitivity spec, it is not very sensitive. Also, it appears to me that it would supplant the tuner in your head unit, or at the very least require you to have a splitter on the antenna. NOT a desirable thing to do at 55 miles out from locals. Signal strength is bound to be suffering a bit at that distance, and I seriously doubt you would get reliable HD lock, given the sensitivity spec of the box. Especially on AM!!!
