pirate airchecks

Hey, thanks for the kind words, peeps! Just so you know, I'm smack-dab in the middle of trying to archive and restore 30 years worth of pirate radio airchecks - no small task (you can read about it at the web site I set up about it - http://www.rfny.us - lots of photos and news clipping too, including some video). As I continue to unearth gems, I'll be sure to post them.

I have some treats coming up - to mark the 20th anniversary of Radio New York International's brief run, I'll be posting what might be the two surviving airchecks of RNI - Ivan Jefferies from 7/26/87 and Hank and Jim from 7/27/87 (six hours after the end of that show, the FCC and Coast Guard would be boardng The Sarah). Hard to believe that it has been 20 years already. That will be coming up in a couple of weeks.

Also - sometime in December, I'll mark the 31st anniversary of the first WFAT broadcast by posting the first show! But before then and in between I'll make sure there's lots of fun to keep everyone busy.

Petezs!

Well, it took me WAY longer than I expected (getting all the stuff together took forever), but I finally have the Radio New York Intenational (RNI) 20th Anniversary pages up. Lots of video and audio. You can get directly there like so: http://rfny.hankhayes.com/05_rni.html

Hard to believe that tomorrow (7/27) marks twenty years to the day since the last transmission. Seems like it happened yesterday.

Enjoy! :)

Hey everyone,

A lot of people have been e-mailing me asking for the first-ever WFAT show to be posted. The good news is, I've managed to restore that tapes that do exist (the last hour was lost forever, unfortunately) and that will be going up in a few weeks to mark the 30th anniversary!

THIRTY years...yikes.

Stand by for news!

Pete
