Pirate AM in Marysville, OH

It seems to me that this little micropower job called WMHO has a mission. First and foremost Marysville's only licensed station WUCO and it's former classic country format pulled its steaks(sans xmtr) up and moved to Columbus to fill a local void for Catholic radio in Central Ohio. I'm not bitter about that since I'm Catholic myself.

Secondly what I see here is a local person trying to fill the void left by WUCO's departure from classic country. I wish him well. I do not look upon him as a pirate anymore than the legit LPFM he manages over in Russells Point. Surely if he had the opporitunity and the money to audiostream and to be granted an LPFM for Marysville he would gladly do so.

The brutal attack on him on this board tells me that there are those in the "legit" fifth ghetto (it's no longer a "fifth estate" when it's controlled by greedy corporate suits) want to take him (and all other LPFMs and micropowers) down!

I appauld this little guy in the biz for what he is trying to do. He is not a pirate. He is not deliberately jamming legit signals or airing profanity laced anti-Christian death metal. Such should be the target of the FCC...not WMHO.

His station is not illegal. He's a personal friend of mine and I've seen his station. The FCC field office in Detroit sent a guy to see the station and it passed the inspection. Let's leave well enough alone.

Leave this guy alone! Don't you have anything else to gossip about??? He's running his little station legitimately! It's the big so called "legit" stations that should be looked at more closely. By the way - have you heard the programming in NYC lately -- A DISGRACE!!!! A COMPLETE DISGRACE!!!!!!!! With the exception of WFUV - Leave the little guys alone, they program a whole lot better that the big corporations who know absolutely nothing about radio programming or serving the public!!!!

1 KW sounds good to me! Wish it could happen. I hope you guy's are about finished bashing my poor little station. ( and Mr Fry has WAY too much time on his hands...get a life..) Best to all, and to all a good night. Gene, WMHO..Marysville's ONLY station.

Hang in there Gene. You made a believer out of me concerning the capabilities of a well sited Part-15 station. Hope the current high water up there at Russell's Point doesn't affect your WRPO operation.

God love you Gene....You are a trailblazer of what LPFM and mircopower radio is truly meant to be....locally originating community radio. Promoting local singing talent Kelsie Ross is something most radio stations wouldn't do anymore.

A Wikipedia article of WRPO can be found at:

We hope out here an audiostream of both of your stations will someday be a reality.

Deep deep down you're a kid at heart who cares.

We're here for 'ya...go get 'em dude!

Peace be with 'ya

We need a thousand more radio stations just like it! That's why Radio Brandy is going camping again this summer, taking the show on the road! We want to show as many people as possible the true value of local community radio. We also to continue to inspire future broadcasters, to inspire today's young people we have to be able to open the door again.

Steve:

While in Ohio, why not stop by and set up shop for your camping if possible at Indian Lake State Park..and interview 'ol Gene at his LPFM in Russells Point. ..it's located northwest of Columbus...southeast of Lima.
