Pirate at 98.1 Lawrence MA

There's supposed to be a church-run LPFM at 98.1 in Lawrence (CP expires next yr) but DJ Chris Porter on facebook noticed a pirate on the freq, rebroadcasting a
commercial station and with horrible audio. Maybe these guys... http://www.brava98.com/ Don't know if the FCC reads these boards but there's a tip and yeah I know
they may have to wait till someone complains formally (especially an affected signal). Spanish music, Chris says, coming in strong nr Rt 93

According to this:
http://www.angelfire.com/nj2/piratejim/lpfm3.html

...the following has a CP for an LPFM
>>WGUA-LP 98.1 St. Patrick Parish Lawrence Educational Radio Assoc. Lawrence MA (cp expires - 7/9/2016)

We'll assume it isn't the church running this signal and if they do get on the air, the pirate would be a thorn in their side.

Speaking of pirate radio, there was an article in MassLive about Flava 105.5 that was broadcasting from the Osgood-Bradley building in downtown Worcester that was recently sold for redevelopment. The former owner said he had no idea about the station until the FCC showed up to "shut" them down in April 2010. I use quotes because they may have been silenced for awhile, but they are on the air to this day.

And as I was perusing the dial in Worcester, there was a stronger pirate at 93.5 that was even running commercials. On a positive note, the long time Worcester pirates at 102.9 and 106.5 seemed to be gone.

I think we should all be happy that some people even care about fm radio enough to start a station. I mean...just look what happened in Norway

since I have the unfortunate pleasure of having to be in and out of Lawrence on a regular if not daily basis ..including an appraisal to do over there today.... the FCC would be doing the world a favor if they took that pirate out using a small thermo nuclear device. I just want them to do it on a day when the winds are not blowing towards New Hampshire.

With the FCC looking to close field offices, you can bet that pirates are going to pop up all over the place if it happens.

what exactly are the people down in Batterymarch Park doing anyway?

NY branch warned and busted a bunch of pirates acc to diymedia.net Would hope they keep Boston office.Think they need US Marshalls to do a bust. Some states like NJ,FL may have strict anti-pirate laws...the operators may be depriving the.states of tax revenue and who knows, maybe a bust would uncover other illegal activities..,drugs etc.
Getting rid of FM unlikely here due to huge profits, resistance to digital broadcasting etc. Heck what would NPR do,also, if say,FM went away but AM stayed? "This is AM 1260,WGBH Boston.." Or a bunch of listeners get HD.

--Yrs ago a co-worker in Methuen complained about an 88.1 pirate blocking him from hearing Lost and Found on WMBR;got em shut down

--Complaints about Datz Hits 99.7 got them shut down;caused interference to WCRB and Logan aircraft radio

It may not be as hopeless as it seems, at least if this Inside Radio article about the new FCC Enforcement Bureau chief is to be believed.
