Pirate back on in Cuyahoga Falls

Was with my wife shopping in Cuyahoga Falls this afternoon, and noted a strong, stereo signal on 103.7 playing Todd Rundgren.

At about 2:08pm I heard a guy give his name over the ending of the TR record, talked about 15 seconds...faded Todd's song back up. When the song ended he cut carrier...signed off.

His voice sounded a lot like the pirate on 90.7 or 90.9FM a couple years ago in Cuyahoga Falls. In fact, back then he used to be on every morning from 4:45am-7:00am...when he must've left for work.

The guy contacted me by mail once (a few years ago he once on the air gave out his POBox # in Cuyahoga Falls...so I sent him my name and phone number....and he called me). In his phone call he told me he was using an old CB-type vertical antenna, and a low-power broadcasting 15-watt transmitter.

Professional sounding signal and voice....but, I know it's just a hobby for him. I have no idea who he is...I never kept his POBox address (wish I would've!). Sure sounds like the same guy...who's changed frequencies.

Whoever you are...sounds good.

Woah! I can't believe he's back. I was in the area about a year ago. I couldn't find the 90.7 pirate -- but i did hear the 91.9 Contemporary Cue pirate. If he was playing Todd Rundgren's "Just one Victory" at sign on -- chances are it was him.

As for the PO box, I have it on a tape somewhere... if i can find it, ill write it down and send it to you

Please do let me know. Since I don't know you, I'm not sure how we'll hook up to get the POBox...but, we'll figure something out.

While I'm certainly not promoting breaking the law by operating a pirate station...this guy does seem to try not to intefere with other stations, has a very clean signal with professional-type, low-power equipment, and I'd hate to see him get caught.

This even further underlines the need for real LPFMs that average people could put on the air.....not huge church groups or legal non-profits who actually are for-profit businesses in disguise.
