pirate busted

The Jamacian/Reggae pirate that signed on last week on 106.5 is history, as of yesterday. I guess CC has plenty of pull with the FCC, that was the quickest bust of any pirate I can remember. I notified Mr. Tozzi last week and was told they will be gone within the week. Hopefully, they did not shut down until the smoke clears.

what about the pirate on 99.3

There's another pirate station on 99.3, which has one of its staff members bragging about it on this board. Shouldn't that be shut down too? Or does the FCC only care about shutting down minority pirates? Clear Channel (Power 99) and NextMedia (99.5 WJBR) should have plenty of beef against 99.3. There was a pirate on 95.3 a few years ago that was about 1000 watts 24/7 and it lasted for months.<P ID="signature">______________

not that it effects me but Why are you informing on a pirate?? does his activities somehow get on your nerves, does his signal cramp up your favorite station...or are you trying to make "brownie" points with someone??

Update

The Minority pirate is still on at 106.5, what they are doing is broadcasting a few hours, then shutting down, then coming on again to confuse the trackers. I have them pinned somewhere in Delaware Country near 69th street. I do not think your minority theory is correct, there has been this urban pirate on at 97.7, which has been on for years. For some "reason :)" the FCC won't touch them, there was another one on at 92.9 for a few years, it took both WXTU and WMMR to join forces and finally shut them down. I am out of the range of 99.3, they come in from time to time and they do play all types of music, last time I heard them was one day last week. I think the pirates the FCC goes after with great vigor are the Rock, Metal, Country and Alternative pirates, not the minority ones. That is why you do not hear any on the air, they get busted in a flash.
