The staff of pirate stations consist of Jimmy Buffet Parrot Heads eating a bowl of Captain Crunch and having Jolly Ranchers for desert. They have happy hours at the Ben Bow Inn watching countless showings of "Pirates of the Carribean-The Black Pearl" starring Johnny Depp.Their favorite teams are The Oakland Raiders,Tampa Bay Bucs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. They model their announcing styles after Cindy Scull.

Found it

Well for all practical purposes anyway. I need a night time job... too hard to hunt these things in the dark... and when it's daylight, I'm working.

Anyway, today's anti-government propaganda is being brought to you at the intersection of LBJ and McArthur - on the NE corner. I'm 99% sure its NOT the Hightower Salon building... although I can't see what's on the roof. From several measurements both inside and outside the apt complex to the north, it appears to be coming from one of the apts.

The exact address would be 7902 McArthur # 3067 - the Dakota Hills Apts. This particular apt is directly behind (or north of) the Hightower Salon building. However it has a peculuar satellite dish mounted on the railing - doesn't appear to be your normal Dish Network receiver setup. Also the audio on the station was coming and going - as if the satellite dish were fading - which would be typical of a dish of this size. I never could find the actual transmitting antenna... I presume it's in the roof, or it could have been on the balcony and it was just too dark for me to see it.

Wheee... I love chasing these things. Pretty good signal to the south. I originally found it this evening while sitting in the parking lot of Via Real - and was scanning the vacant channels for just such signals. Going back across LBJ it's pretty much gone shortly after I35... which would be a good indication of being on the south balcony rail - and being blocked by other apts to the east.

I heard this station also while I was driving to work yesterday. I will listen again for it this morning.

Last night it was "Radio Free America" - then they lost that satellite feed... and put up music for a bit... the rest of the time I was hunting, it was just dead air. I'm guessing maybe they saw my truck. With 9 antennas on it, it kinda sticks out :)<P ID="signature">______________

My kids saw a vehicle like that once (in Las Colinas, oddly enough) and asked me what all those wires were for. I explained to them that they were antennas, tuned to pick up and/or transmit different radio frequencies. They absorbed this information, and declared the vehicle "RADIO-ACTIVE". :)

I'll think of you next time I see a RADIO-ACTIVE vehicle driving around.

>> Those apartments have more than just THOSE bad vibes coming from there. Dakota Hills apartments have been on the news lately. It's where a "mom" gave her baby chili powder to quit sucking her thumb, and died. What's wrong with people?

Re: Found it

won't be on the air for long...when 98.3 KBOC goes on the air (whenever that happens...if it happens). Heres one thing DFW needs...92.9 Groove Dallas!

bless you ;) but I think we all know why I have chosen not to fire up Groove D on the FM here. So, yea, I've got a 100-watt FM station collecting dust in my closet... LOL! wait a min, that makes me sad :(
