Pirate in Boston get kick off the air

Boston doesn't have enough of a market for a real Urban or Urban AC... but there is still a Rhythmic CHR (Jammin' 94.5) :) Last I remember, Albany and Hartford have a larger Black % than Boston (only around 6%)...

We should have an Urban AC here in Boston, either that or (Either) HOT AC (Mix 104.1), or AC (Magic 106.7) should play more NEW/Recent, and Old Urban AC. They used to play Johnny Gill, a lot of Lionel Richie, Hi Five, Luther Vandros, and Freddie Jackson.
I havn't heard a Freddie Jackson song on there, since ?? 2002, not even "You are My Lady"
It's a shame
and (Magic 106.7) is advertised on almost every Bus Transit (MBTA -BUS) here in Boston, and a lot of those buses are in Urban Areas of Boston. With that said, you think their Program Management would consider playing more Urban AC on their station.
I WOULD!!
I'm not saying change their format, I'm just saying, play more Urban AC. Since they're advertising their station, and the Buses travel in Urban Areas.

There was a time when Almost Everyone said Boston cant have a country music station . 102.5 is now one of the top rated stations in Boston .

Country 102.5 is great. Believe it or not, when you listen by Walkman/MP3 Walkman, any Walkman (inside Boston) it doesn't come in good. Once you get outside the city, it comes in better.
This may or may not be the same if you work or live inside Boston. Or if you listen from a good Car Radio with a good antanna while driving in those areas of Boston?
All I know is when I listen to Country 102.5 by a walkman, (ANY) walkman, New and old Walkman, that's one of a few radio stations that I can not get inside Boston.
I don't know all the Technical Reasons, all I know is their tower is outside the city

As I just mentioned above, Mix 104.1, and Magic 106.7 can be heard CLEARLY Both inside and Outside the city on ALL Radios and ALL Walkmans. These two stations cover the Urban Areas of Boston as well as our CHR KISS 108 which plays (URBAN/CHR) as well

This has been explained dozens of times. The 102.5 tower site is in Needham. There are seven powerful FM stations that all transmit from the Pru. When you're within a few miles of the Pru, a cheap radio is getting so much signal from those seven Pru FMs that it overloads on other frequencies as well.

Imagine you're trying to see the light from a pocket flashlight. Easy to see, right? Yes...until you go outside on a sunny day and hold the flashlight right up at the same angle as the sun, at which point the sun is so bright that it drowns out the light from the flashlight. WKLB is the flashlight, and the Pru FMs are the sun.

And I have plenty of portable radios that have no problem hearing 102.5 anywhere in Boston. You just can't do it on a cheapo walkman (and even some "expensive" walkman-type radios have very cheap components in them.)

104.1, 106.7 and Kiss 108 all transmit from the Pru. They come in very well throughout the city, it's true...but take your same cheap walkman out the Green Line to Riverside and you'll find that it has the same problem out there that it does in the city, only in reverse: the powerful FM signals that transmit from Newton and Needham (94.5, 98.5, 102.5, 103.3) will overload your radio and the Pru FMs (Kiss, Mix, Magic, WZLX, WTKK, WBOS, WROR) will be harder to receive.

Would it be so hard for a Boston FM station to add The Touch 24-hour format on an HD subchannel? Clear Channel, with all of its programming resources--having an equivalent station up and running should hardly qualify as work.

For that matter, if there's truly passion enough for an Urban AC/R&B music station in Boston, maybe this audience that likes Hot 97 could organize a 'buycott' to bring such a channel into existence. If there's enough people out there willing to buy HD radios and consider more commerce with local businesses already buying local spots, it would seem to be worth some company's while to take a swing at this, even on the cheap.

Surely there are 25,000 people in the metro who'd enjoy a 'localized' R&B station they could take with them--is it a stretch that my number beats the actual number of HD Radio listeners in the metro?
