Do you think taxpayers should pay for the FCC to
cover every square inch of the USA tuning to
every frequency of every band, and listening to
each frequency long enough to hear an ID, then
figuring out if it's DX, or a pirate ? Some of
these pirates only go a block and are only on the
air sporadically, so what are the chances of
ever finding them ? It's impossible to do
without reading Radio-Info for tips, or getting
complaints from the public. The "general public"
doesn't care, so unless a broadcaster is affected,
it's unlikely there will be any complaints.
For example, a pirate on 95.1 in Brooklyn isn't
going to hurt WAYV in Atlantic City, so they
will probably not complain.
Think about it - how important is this ?
You can't have an inspector on every block 24/7.
It's not all that important.
