Radio Carribean coming out of Paterson 24/7 messing up WBAB and WSUS.

Very strong in the Paterson area. Where's the FCC? I guess at the Dunkin Donuts with the cops.

I just spent a few hours with two FCC Inspectors
from the Philadelphia Field Office on Monday,
and I can assure you of a few things ...

1) they read Radio-Info for tips (ie: 103.1 Forked River)
2) they are hard working and highly qualified
3) they enjoy their work, and pirates are a treat !

did you call and make a complaint? they will respond to pirate complaints from broadcasters, especially if it interferes with a station.

unfortunately, they are not out patrolling for pirates. their responsibility covers more than broadcast.

There is a pirate on 106.3 FM that is Carribean, and I can't listen to G-Rock anymore because the station is probably from the same city I'm from. I want to report these guys, anyone know how I could do it? I wish I could take a bat to their transmitter.

Maybe the Philadelphia area FCC Inspectors are more dilligent than the ones in the New York City area. In just Brooklyn alone:

93.7 (On sporadically)
-94.3- Carribean Power
-95.1- Big Radio 95.1
-95.9-
-96.1
-96.7- WILD 96.7
-97.5
-99.9- Triple 9 FM
-100.7 (On Sporadically)
-100.9 (On Sporadically)
-101.5
-103.1- BASHMENT RADIO
-103.9
-104.7- Fire 104
-105.5- Choice Fm
-106.3- The Spirit Station (Brooklyn)/Royal Radio Bronx
-107.1
-107.9- FLAVA 107.9

I've heard a lot of these stations personally, but the list is courtesy of a poster on another board.

Pirate on 106.3 FM

A 106.3 pirate overloaded my radio at the New York side of the George Washington bridge, so it is probably near there. But we could be talking about different pirate stations on 106.3.<P ID="signature">______________

That 106.3 FM pirate has been on at least a few months.
Looks like they are transmitting from somewhere in the Bronx.
They used to be on the air around the clock but lately are on from 4pm to 6 am or longer on weekdays and 24 hrs on weekends.
They have a website, caller request line, lots of pics, local appearances at clubs, etc.
http://royalradio1063.com should be the site.
They even have an office at 3425 Boston Road in the Bronx but not sure if the studio is there or not.

Let's take this one, two, three:

1.) I don't know if they read Radio-Info or not. If they
do, and they see all this discussion about pirates, why
haven't they done something?

2.) If they are hard-working and highly qualified, why
are the pirates still on the air?

3.) If they enjoy their work, especially finding pirates,
they should be running all over the place closing these
criminals down. As we have read on this forum, some of
these pirates have been on the air for MONTHS. Some
even have phone numbers and mailing addresses. It seems
that they don't love their work that much.

Do you think taxpayers should pay for the FCC to
cover every square inch of the USA tuning to
every frequency of every band, and listening to
each frequency long enough to hear an ID, then
figuring out if it's DX, or a pirate ? Some of
these pirates only go a block and are only on the
air sporadically, so what are the chances of
ever finding them ? It's impossible to do
without reading Radio-Info for tips, or getting
complaints from the public. The "general public"
doesn't care, so unless a broadcaster is affected,
it's unlikely there will be any complaints.

For example, a pirate on 95.1 in Brooklyn isn't
going to hurt WAYV in Atlantic City, so they
will probably not complain.

Think about it - how important is this ?
You can't have an inspector on every block 24/7.
It's not all that important.
