Pirate on 87.5 FM [sic]

You read it right. Was driving around Pembroke Pines tonight, around Flamingo Rd & Pembroke Rd, and there on my car radio on 87.5 was a pirate, playing an eclectic mix of 1950s Cuban music, Haitian music, and pop music in English.

That reaches less folk than a pirate on the AM X-band....perhaps they're figuring that the FCC won't notice.

Can anybody else hear this thing? It petered out as we drove north & west. I figure it maybe to be around the SunLife Stadium area? There are a lotta pirates along the county line. BTW the stereo pilot light is on.

It has dead air for 2 seconds or so between tunes.

I think I may have heard this same one 3 weeks ago. I don't think it's on the air all the time.

I don't even have anything that can hear down there.
Some of these ops are so inexperienced.
Many years ago, a UM student told me abt his STL on 108.3.
I told him to turn that thing off NOW, he was looking at serious jail time transmitting in the aircraft Nav band, and if I were on a jury, I would recommend quick and painless execution. DavidEdwardo was on a flight a few years ago when an undocumented station interferred with their nav equipment.
At least your guy is only in the LPTV band.
