Pirate on 95.5??

I came across a station on 95.5 today in Folsom, thinking it is a pirate. At first I thought it may be K238AE out of Clearlake, but no. This station is playing mostly 50s/60s oldies, but I did hear some 80s music also. No IDs or imaging between songs - it just sounds like an ipod playing through. The audio is low as I could hear K238AV Yuba City over this station occasionally. Haven't had the chance to check reception outside of Folsom. Anyone else receiving this?

I only drove a couple miles today but it was pretty consistent reception throughout that short distance. I'll have to further investigate its signal tomorrow, assuming its still on the air.

On my way to work this morning, signal was heard throughout Folsom and El Dorado Hills. Heading further east, the local translators take over. It definitely is a pirate. They played a cute TOH jingle ID'ing as "Oldies 95" (no calls of course). It has to be running at least 10 watts at a decent height. Maybe someone with a house in the hills overlooking the valley?

I had to run up to Somerset yesterday and remembered to listen. Yup, a pirate. I like the music though. Not exactly sure where it's coming from. Listened closely as I drove, and seeing where it was good vs where it was bad/shadowed... Maybe out south of Folsom or el dorado hills somewhere... Who knows..

With 4 posts, you sure know how to come on here and stir things up. :)

Engineers past and present. :)

I couldn't give rats hind end about a pirate.. Unless they are causing someone with an actual license interference somehow..

There's been reports of another pirate on 104.7 somewhere just East of downtown. It nails KVMR's translator in that area. Kinda boring, based on what people are telling me, although I haven't been there to check it out. Seems like if you're going to go to the trouble of being a pirate you should be able to come up with something more creative than Hotel California.

Last I checked, 95.5 had a KAWZ Christian translator that was listenable in most of Sacramento. Is that one gone?
