Pirate on 98.5 Lubbock

Arrrrr!!! There's a pirate broadcasting Christmas music on 98.5.

I know there was a pirate on the same frequency last year, but the format was Spanish (and it was a simulcast of 98.5 near Lamesa). It then went dark for awhile, but then I turned it on the other day and was hearing Christmas music. Is this the same pirate radio station that was broadcasting Spanish last year (perhaps 98.5 changed formats)?

Really? I haven't heard it yet, I'll have to check that out. Last time around, I couldn't it. I wonder if its just another Air1 or KLOVE affiliate. A while back there was something on the board about them getting some more Lubbock frequencies.

Air 1 is wasting two frequencies on 94.1 and 99.1. K-Love (unfortunately) is wasting a frequency on 100.7 in SW Lubbock.

I actually tuned it in and heard station identification and it was a simulcast of KYMI.

This signal is not as strong as the one from last year. Sounds like the signal moved elsewhere because the previous pirate on 98.5 I could pick up very strong near Texas Tech. Now it goes in and out, but it can be heard throughout most of Lubbock. I usually hear it the strongest on the West side of the loop near Clovis Highway. You may have to tune it in manually on your car radio though because the signal drops in and out but again it is listenable in most parts of lubbock.

This is now KBXJ, licensed to Los Ybanez. It was KYMI, and was sold to a new owner. New format is on the way-the station is stunting right now.
