Anyone have any idea what town?? And an estimate on how much power (watts)?
Thought maybe somebody who is close to the pirate might be able to take an educated guess.

Where are you living at...

Here in Philly 106.5 is still Jamacian, they are broadcasting from 40th and Baltimore Avenues. The old 99.3 is no-where on 106.5.

As of this morning Sunday, the pirate is not on the air on 106.5. Perhaps they are experimenting on different frequencies. I'll continue to dx the fm band and see where they show up. I've wondered if Hy or his son Sam, have any information on who is broadcasting their fm web site?

I rode his coverage area a few weeks ago when he was operating on 99.3 and seemed to narrow it down to the Fort Washington, Horsham, Dresher, Upper Dublin, or perhaps Ambler areas. His signal seems to be fairly strong in those areas. Traveling east on Rt. 73, by the time you get to Jenkintown/Glenside areas he's pretty much gone; same traveling west on 73 when you get to North Wales Road. Coverage seems to be similar on Rt. 63.

He must not be very high because his coverage is fairly spotty, even in areas where his signal is viable. If you get into a very low elevation, say like along Morris Road, he's in and out. In higher elevations, he's fine.

My best guess is that he's running about 30 watts at a HAAT elevation of perhaps 35 feet or so. That would give him a 40 dBu signal of about 8 miles, which seems about right. I need to bring my FM field intensity meter in and try to triangulate him.

He is off today, or has changed frequency again. I know he jumped around between 94.9 and 95.3 before he settled on 99.3; so he may be jumping again.

Hey,Rene

My signal was quite unusual, even if I may say so myself. One night on my way to circuit city in plymoth meeting, I was surprised that my signal was quite strong up on the ridge. Of coarse, every time I'm on the ridge, or even pass by ridge pike, I am drawn or shall I say compelled to your drive way, for a ritual antenna excursion. My first to that location was with my father at 3 years old (44 years ago) when I accompanied him to his nightly showon on WIBG.
Anyway, the 99.3 antenna was on the tallest pine tree, on the highest terrain in lower merion. Right across the street from Bala Cynwyd Jr. high with 175 watts v polarization, single bay. I too spent excessive time metering the pattern. While there were mant deficiency's in the signal, some areas were stronger than others. There was one upgrade and when I wasn't happy with that, I placed an order to have a double bay h/v built in england. When WOGL's ratings began to drop, they complained incesantly to the beloved fcc. And while a dialog was opened with the fcc for an experimental waiver, It was decided it was time for me to cool it. Regretfully, now, the experiment is not on broadcast fm. But, I guess, good engineers do persevere. As my father alway's reminds me "stay cool but but don't freeze".

Please explain your post. Are you who I think and are you the pirate?
