Pirate on 99.9 Fm in McKinney?

FCC shuts down a decent and good quality pirate yet they do nothing to stop the non-legal crap broadcasting on the air here in San Antonio. What a wonderful FCC! :p

I suggest keeping at least the Online broadcast going.

Yea, They took everything. It was a very nasty raid.
Got off with a warning, but lost the transmitters.
Apparantly even my talking house AM transmitter (and the retired C Cranes) was illegal.
To be honest I'm actually very suprised this happened, I wasn't hurting anybody.
 
How was the talking house transmitter deemed illegal?
This is very odd to me. I could see the 99.9 being questionable maybe, but even that seems like a stretch. How many Christmas light displays seem to have more range than that?

Very sorry to see it go. Really hope you'll put q100 back online though.

Sorry to hear about the station going down. I'm curious how much power were you running?
The reason I ask is because I have a Ramsey FM25b xmitter hooked to one of my jukeboxes. It does get out between 1/8-1/4 miles. I think I'm set on 89.1 freq. Haven't run it in a couple of months, but I am curious what the chances of this happening to me is?

As long as you keep the audio quality and production as professional as you can while not interfering with other radio stations you should be fine. Especially with a low power signal like your's. What's the wattage on it?
 
Thanks for the reply. This xmitter is very low power (.025 watt or 25 milliwatt). I would like to buy one with a little more. I'm in Wichita Falls where the dial is not as crowded as the Metroplex.

How much power were you running?

If it's over 500 MW I'd watch out. I'd not have the thing on constantly if I were you.

Maybe one of the reasons it got noticed is due to the fact we're all talking about it here, anyone including the FCC can read these forums.
Or perhaps someone sent them a complaint? But I don't get why someone would complain about a professional-sounding station like yours, Liberty. Perhaps you can try filing for an LP FM license with the FCC when they open it up later this year.




Or just maybe online broadcasting is the way to go? I know several people who run online stations and some are quite good. Renegade Radio, for example, is located at http://renegaderadio.us, lots of DJ's and shows with all different types of music. Check their schedule. :)

I'm beginning to seriously doubt anyone at the FCC ever comes to the Texas/San Antonio/Houston sections of this board. Unless they are planning some covert all at once bust of all these illegal operators in a few months and are going to dub it something along the lines as Operation: Argh, Mateys! then umm...no...I don't think they read these boards. lol

How'd they get 99.9 then! I would think that more people would be complaining to them about everyone else, as 99.9 is very low power and in a small town.
 
McKinney isn't exactly small...
Its around 130,000 and a suburb of Dallas.
And yea, the FCC does check the radio boards.
Plus this was first posted in the DFW board.

I checked yesterday and it only goes back to April 5th. It probably won't even be posted.
 
Nah, it won't be posted. A little birdie told me there was one hand-delivered, but it won't go online. Also, from what I understand, the parental unit was the one responsible for the equipment leaving the premises. Thus the accounts suspended online as well (which the FCC wouldn't have done anything about).

Why in this particular case would the FCC Enforcement Bureau NOT publically post the reason(s) leading to this alleged FCC action?
