For the past 2 months I have noticed that in this area of Houston where I live, which is Oak Forest that there is a 94.9 broadcasting and they call there selves Radio Free Austin at the top of each hour but they are rebroadcasting FOX News Programming. Here is the link to their site.

You will notice that they broadcast on 10 Frequencies across South Texas. I checked the FCC's site but cannot find any record on them.

If this station stays on the air, I won't be able to hear 95.1 out of Beaumont or the 95.1 from College Station area.

Sounds like one of them things that I get out side of Gonzales, damn station kills 101X and KONO. its on 101.3

Would appear they are mostly broadcasting Genesis network programs. GCN, whose top talent is probably Jeff Rense, is more or less a whacked out group that would clear programming on ANY station, including pirate ones.

It also will jam KLTY - one of the easiest DX targets.

I smell a trip to Houston/Austin in my future :) I'm guessing it's a pirate... as well as the other frequencies they have listed.

Thanks for the heads up!

I've DF'd their transmitter in San Antonio near UTSA. It obliterates 101x from Austin on most days. but I laugh on the days KROX blasts in and knocks their range down to a block or two. The FCC already knows exactly where that one is. They may be trying to go after the source rather than each individual transmitter.

They keep adding transmitters and growing their conspiracy network. Seems to me the bigger they are the harder they will fall.

It certainly does ruin chances of hearing KLTY 94.9 out of DFW in this area of Houston.

Yesterday, 10/12, I was on a remote for The Wave at Gallery Furniture. At 6, I left and went up to Parker and made a right under 45 and headed to Shephard Drive. I listened to it all the way to I-10. However, when I passed 11th St, the signal begain having multipath problems. When I got to I-10, reception was bad to fair. It was fair to good as I headed west towards 610. It continued that way until about Campbell Rd, when it became bad, but still listenable to a Dxer. As I got to Beltway 8, and headed south I finally lost the signal.

It was running a conspiracy show from some guy named "Land." I never caught his 1st name. He did say he was running out of money and needed my help, so he could stay on the air on shortwave. At least it was good for laughs. He had a guest on who was talking about the Avian Bird Flu as a government plan to lower the world's population by getting everyone inoculated. (Auntie Emm, Auntie Emm, it's a twister!)

This morning when I got in the car at 3:30 this morning, there was a 'hum.' on the frequency.
