Pirate radio get served by FCC

The pirate stations can throw those letters out and nothing will happen. Government bureaucracy at its finest.

so when you try to get a mortage and some flag is raised that you have unpaid federal fines on your record?

i havent even thought about all the potential ramifications but theyre a lot bigger than a simplistic dismissal

it looks like the FCC is doing their usual nothing, which I know Rapking likes, and some of the rest of us hate.

They can't seem to find BigCity,Touch or any of the other big players, even when they are hiding in plain sight!

Perhaps hunting down and stopping pirates should be a joint operation with the FBI.

I found this on another radio board.

"The FCC is planning on doing a mega raid in the Boston area soon. The stations are well past the warning stage and going overboard on their power outputs and less than radio clean programming.
As you know the FCC does not actually do the raid; it relies on other government agents to do the dirty work. It is the time making those agents available that is delaying the mega raid. Once everything is in place: It's showtime in Boston.

The goal is to do it all at once; to avoid equipment leaving out the backdoor and set up shop else ware. Agents from the FCC will be staged at all the offending stations prior to the raids.

Some of the stations involved are for profit stations; so expect the IRS to get involved too.

If you are in the Boston area, consider yourself warned."

Thought I heard 1710 and 91.7 back on last Friday? Are they stupid or what?

PIRATE RADIO IS FOREVER !!!!!!

Except when it's airing a format you don't like, in which case it's "trash radio" that's interfering with your precious urban and hip-hop formats, right?

WRONG!

The FCC will let dozens of pirate FM's run for God knows how long, but waste time and money on a ground lead issue on a certified am transmitter with an output of 50 mW at best.

Tell me Rapking, hypothetically.... do you think it is fair for a pirate station to set up shop first or second adjacent to a fully-licensed non-commercial college station that has been on the air for over thirty years, has a regular listenership in that area and now cannot serve that area due to some Johnny Come Lately pirate operation stepping on it? I'd love to hear your take on this.

C'mon Pete - what do you THINK that the Crap Monarch's
"take on this" will be? He is clueless, to the bitter end...
a one joke comic - and the joke wasn't funny to begin with.
Pirates - shut 'em down, fine 'em, jail 'em, deport 'em if necessary.
Nail their sorry butts to the wall...

I know, Jeff. But for s**ts and giggles, I'd like to hear it from the horse's a... I mean, MOUTH. And yes, I totally agree with you on what the Commish should do with them.

I would love to see that 99.7 pirate get shut down. I don't mind the pirates who don't interfere with much, but this 99.7 pirate is killing WCRB in the Boston area.
