Pirate Radio in the Bay Area

Really?? No one.....

Oh, there's supposed to be one in SF on 87.7 but my car radio stops at 87.9. And if you drive around you can probably find a bunch on 87.9 and some of the classic spots such as 103.3, 93.7, etc.

In San Francisco, there is frequently a pirate station on 102.5 playing rap - strong in the mission.

The long time pirate station in Berkeley is still on at 104.1

87.9 is a favorite frequency - used to be Pirate Cat but now others seem to use it a lot.

Also used to be a station on 93.7 but haven't heard it recently.

I am sure there are others that I have not found.

And Pirate Cat won't be found there anymore, either. Monkey's gone legit...and he likes it that way, too.

FCC Free Radio in SF with a blowtorch of 1.5 watts, don't know if its still on

The "proprietor" of that outfit went off-RF. There was a rift and one of the crowd went off and formed "Radio Valencia". Originally on 89.9, they apparently moved 2 MHz down to 87.9 if the report here is to be believed. Not sure what kind of juice they're running on that.

I told them in no uncertain terms that if they operated on any channel that interfered with a licensed station that I would complain long and loud to the FCC about it. That was the case with 89.9, 91.5, and all the other "empty" channels they were using or intended to use. JH is apparently fine with it; CJ only greets me "cordially" these days. Apparently he's pissed.

I heard a Part 15 on I-680 near South Main Street yesterday on 97.7. They had a AAA format and called themselves KEGR. I couldn't get even a piece of the signal after Olympic.
