pirate radio

Guy's here's one for ya's.I just vacationed in boston for a couple of weeks in july, their radio market is pretty wild. I got to visit WBZ 50kw flamethrowing power plant, and a picture in front of their new harris dx 50. But their market is full of pirate radio stations on again off again. So does anyone know of any pirate stations in any of our local markets?

There was one in Ithaca on 90.3 that was mostly relaying WCNY, IIRC. But it shut down when WITH 90.1 came on-air; the HD carriers blew it away.

Out in the middle of Oneida Lake on my yacht last summer, LOTS of stations down on the lower bands. Cant remember what they were doing, like much of FM, but thats a good place to look.

I caught a station last night at 1260 AM around 5P. The announcer was amateurish sounding and was talking about sports, actually yelling about sports. Sounded like someone in their basement which made me think a pirate may be at work.
Then looked at the last published ratings and there was not a station at 1260 that exists in the Syracuse ratings? is this a pirate station?

:D :D :D :D :D

Sports announcers have the same illness that has infected modern recording methods!

They remind me of the old Saturday Night Live sketch of " News for the Hard-of-Hearing"

A regular TV newscast, but up in the corner, where the sign-language person would have been, was another announcer, who simply
repeated the words just spoken by the first announcer, except in a "yelling across a field" voice.

Silly me! I thought Mr. Toupee was being facetious!
