Pirate Station on 100.1 near Oxford

Anybody heard this station operating on 100.1 around the Oxford/Anniston area? I heard no identifiers on the station...but they were playing rock that sounded as if it had been downloaded from the web. Heard the station loud and clear in Oxford at 10:45 this morning.

I was in the area last week visiting from friends and came across the same thing. Thought a local may have had their power too hot. Didn't consider a pirate.

No, but I'm going to try for it now. It'd be the second semi-local pirate I've picked up here in St. Clair County. The closest 100.1s are WNSY in Rome, GA which plays Mexican music and Montgomery's WDXX which plays country, so I doubt you were getting a licensed station especially at this time of year.

Their coverage area is not more than just a few square miles. Seems to be located in a residential community off I-20 in Oxford. This is definitely something that this area hasn't seen in a long time...but it won't last for long. Not only is this person/people running a pirate station, but their music is obviously downloaded from the Internet at a low bitrate. So they could be potentially busted for illegal radio and illegal downloads. ::)
