PISS-POOR DIGITAL PROBLEMS on WMFP 62/1 ME-TV

I can't beleive that 13 days into affiliation there's still problems with WMFP's ME-TV signal!

Freezing and Digitization on a level even more noticeable than during the RTV days! It's noticeable OTA,Cable and DirecTV! Was watching ROCKFORD FILES tonight and it happened 5 times in an hour!

*face-palm*

i wish wmfp was stripped of their affiliation and it moved to a sub channel on ch5!

WMFP: The WALE of New England television. ::)

Not quite. I saw the transmitter for WMFP-DT over in Newton, and they have a top of the line setup over there. Thales Paragon transmitter, Dielectric UHF antenna setup. It's really nice. I've not been to the new studio facility, but if it matches anything like the transmitter, it wouldn't suprise me if it is equally as nice.

Maybe the issue with Me-TV has to do with the receivers or LNBs, and they are waiting on parts. This time of year, to get parts from manufacturers is like pulling teeth (holiday week scheduling, etc...)

Let's not make excuses for WMFP - it's nothing more than a "shack" and a transmitter. (No matter how nice it might be) No local sales ad sales staff so we're we're saddled with infomercials on Me-TV starting at 10pm to 2am , then 6am to 9am and on weekends it's solid 10pm to 2pm! RTV now has more hours of programing, and less infomercials on 62.2 than it did on 62.1.

They had enough lead up time prior to MeTV going on to make sure there were no bugs.

In my option, they have nothing but Chimps over there running the show. As for NRJ as a whole, these stations - Boston,SF and Bridgeport were bought for the value of the spectrum - either being sold off if/when the FCC auctions of spectrum space, or the stations become more valuable as remaining broadcast stations.

NRJ (and by extension, Titan Management who runs the stations) don't give a RATS ARSE about the viewers, or preempting programing for infomercials - and let's be frank - whatever offer MeTV gave them to put the channel on 62.1 and 43.1 must have been killer. Weigel Broadcasting would sell their soul to get an affilate with coverage in the NYC market - and whatever concessions they gave for Boston, and Bridgeport must be sweet.

Displacing RTV on WMFP just proves that they ARE OUT to displace RTV in every possible market, and keep AntennaTV from gaining affiliates. Who only knows when WMFP 62.2 will get cable coverage!

God only knows what's going to happen when their sister station WSAH Bridgeport,CT puts MeTV on 43.1. I hope GM Ron is well prepared to see the signal coming in and the signal going out is 100% perfect!

I may not have gotten along with Ron when I worked with him at WXCT AM in Southington, CT (he was their Chief Engineer for part of the time I was there), but he's a good guy who knows his stuff. Right now with WSAH running RTV there are no problems. Any problems are on RTV's end, not WSAH's. It's been a long time since I've seen any technical problems on WSAH. Being off the air because of a power failure is not what I would consider to be a technical problem. :p I just wish Comcast would pick up WSAH for its system in Bristol. It's really not fair. The part of Bristol I live in is just 5 minutes from the Wolcott town-line and the Comcast system they have in Wolcott gets WSAH (along with 4 NYC stations - WNBC, WPIX, WABC, and WWOR).

I wouldn't be surprised once MeTV is on 43.1 you'll see a lot more system carrying the channel and waiving the must-carry exceptions, or whatever they call it.

WMFP froze again around 11:25 this morning in the middle of "Cannon". It's still frozen 15 minutes later. I'm not at home so I can't check the WJAR 10.2 feed.

MeTV debuted on WSAH this past Wednesday, 1/4. I tuned in a couple times over the past couple days and did not see any technical glitches and the PQ seems fine. I don't have much interest in any of the programs so I haven't watched for any extended period of time.

I assume WSAH's must-carry status applies in New Haven county (Wolcott) but not Hartford County (Bristol). Does AT&T in Bristol carry WSAH?

The thing I don't understand about must-carry rules is that they seem to vary by TV provider. In my town in NJ, I can get Verizon Fios or Comcast. I have Verizon which carries WSAH but the Comcast system in my town does not carry it.

One hour later, still frozen.

At least now I know! No picture at all coming through. Hopefully this helps solve the other freezing and blip issues.

WMFP is THE WORSE AFFILIATE FOR ME-TV (and before the move to 62.2 - RTV).

Piss-poor problems, Infomercials all over the place and no communication with their "Loyal" Viewers.

I would agree that it's not the best channel, but obviously no one else in the market wanted ME. My guess was that 7 would have put it on 7.3

Still glad to have some of ME as it is the best classic programming offering out there.

Hearst Television owns both WMUR/9 Manchester and WCVB/5 Boston - there's no reason why MeTV couldn't have ended up on 5.2 which has been unused for several years.

The plain fact is MeTV wanted a must-carry station, and displacing RTV was a bonus for them.

according to there Facebook metv says wmfp will be on and off for the next week or so!!!

Wasn't this brought up in another thread, just recently??

The "FM128 tower", in Newton, where the WBPX (iON) and WMFP transmitters are located on, is currently having structural work and cleanup done on the tower. This is an extensive project, that has been ongoing for three months and will continue for a little while longer. The project is taking longer than normal, because of the worker who fell from the tower, caused a stoppage in the work on the tower while OSHA did its investigation
