PISS-POOR DIGITAL PROBLEMS on WMFP 62/1 ME-TV

If their current facilities can handle a third feed, WMFP could allocate another subchannel - 62-3, and put Me-TV on that when running infomercials on must-carry 62-1. They could run infos at a discount rate on 62-3 when Me-TV is on 62-1, or stay full time with Me-TV, even when duplicating 62-1. Weigel would likely allow it - the whole lineup would then be carried in Boston, even if only fully viewable over-the-air.

They could also just DROP RTV on 62.2 and do that :)

This will NEVER happen. Who would provide a stream without advertising for you to watch? That is incredibly naive.

The question is - is anyone actually watching 62.2 and 43.2 or are the just there to run out the contracts of RTV till something better comes along?

on a related note...

...Indeed, a couple of companies have popped up over the past year to buy underperforming and bankrupt stations in top markets, where demand for wireless broadband services is greatest, and then to sell spectrum for a profit through the FCC's auction....

But one of these speculators, Bert Ellis, told me that affiliating with MundoFox is now an intriguing option, especially given all the uncertainty surrounding the incentive auction. His investment group NRJ TV has a deal to acquire the bankrupt WSAH New York, one of the few stations in the No. 2 Hispanic market that could affiliate with MundoFox.

Hmmm, Wonder if this means RTV's days are numbered on the NRJ stations...

Perhaps they are in it for the long run.

Yes, I have advised a number of people on how to do it, and have answered a few questions. We're still tossing around the ideas of adding Tuff and MyFamily eventually, if the incentives are right.

I got a fair amount of backlash from the Mandarin community (CT has a Mandarin community, who knew!) when Sino went away.

I'm sure most of the complaints would go away if WMFP or WSAH cut most of the infomercials out. But in order to keep these small stations running , revenue must be created hence infomercials. But on the positive side , using sub-channels to show other programming(RTV) is a plus for OTA watchers. Not everyone has cable or Sat. tv . We really don't know what the future holds for these smaller stations, but lets give them some time to work out some deals to get in more revenue so we may get what we want to see in the future. I still hold out hope for WMFP and WSAH to survive. More and more people are tuning in to these stations(RTV , ME-TV , Antenna TV) than the junk they show on cable channels . Lets see if NRJ can tap into that viewership and get creative for revenue.

the picture froze at least 10X last night during the 8:00-9:30 Columbo episode. Upset me so much I didn't watch the Invisible Man at 9:30!
Is it the station or the cable?

I saw it on DirecTV, and it froze often...so not your cable system. And why is everything on WMFP so damn dark? Ron: can you shed any light on that?

They are doing some transmitter work this week according to the Me-TV Facebook page - but it's still not clear if the problem is a transmitter issue, and issue between master control and the transmitter, or an issue in receiving the feed from MeTV

No offense but why are you the only only that seems to be bothered on here???

Because it's annoying that the station, and MeTV are aware of these issues and have yet to resolve them.

...and if you look back at the previous page, I'm not the only one who's noticed these issues.

I bugs me too but I just change to WMUR if watching METV on cable though it still annoys when watching RTV over the air.

I too am rather annoyed with the on-again/off-again issues with WMFP, not to mention the placement of infomercials in prime-time as well. I want to support WMFP as our own Boston affiliate of MeTV. But, I always wind up watching either WJAR 10.2 (during the week) or WMUR 9.2 (on the weekends) "over-the-air". Unfortunately, for MeTV only WMFP is on our cable system. WJAR 10.2 and WMUR 9.2 are not. Hope WMFP can get their act together. Wish they would finally put "Svengoolie" on Saturday nights at 10. BURRRRR.

Considering Boston (WLVI 56) Ran Sven back in his "son" days when Field Communications put him on all their stations, they should air his show.

I can see there's some method in NJR's madness in how they program infomercials, 10-2 are prime slots and can get more than say overnight or early morning - then they run programing from 2am to 6am when everyone else is running infomercials!

WMFP is scheduled to be off air Tuesday and Wednesday for tower maintenance - weather permitting, also the station will be experiencing sun outages in the early afternoon between today and March 10.
