It really was the only team available and signifies that GMD is serious about this flip. It will help their ratings to some degree but WXYT will remain the leader by a big margin. WDFN and WCAR will remain irrelevant, and WXYT-AM will suffer because there will be fewer pre-emptions from the FM that end up there.

I'd really like another talk station in the market, but I guess that's unlikely.

The article discusses the possibility that the Tigers could go to 105.1. I disagree with Tony Paul that GMD will be able to make a serious run at the Tigers, but anything is possible. Unless they are willing to spend big to outbid CBS, the games will stay on The Ticket. If such a change does come to pass, it will be a genuine threat to the dominance of 97.1.
