PITTSBURGH ARBITRON PPM RATINGS RELEASED: JULY 2010

Pittsburgh Ratings Grid here.

The July 2010 survey period is from Thu. 6/24/10-Wed. 7/21/10. The next survey period is for August 2010 running from Thu. 7/22/10-Wed. 8/18/10 with the publicly released age 6+ overall data available on Monday 9/13/10.

Addition:

WGBN-AM (Gospel) (Pentecostal Temple Development Corporation) had a 0.0 share & 10,600 cume.

The two most noteworthy numbers appear to be:

1) Kiss is challenging DVE for #1 in the market (Clear Channel #1,2 and 3...3WS third...)

2) KDKA is down to #5 (Y108 is #4) One theory I've heard for this result is that the Fan's listeners came from KDKA, not from EAE or DVE.

The Fan did not grow but beat 1250... the X lost almost half their numbers without the Pens.

If you add up the shares of WDUQ, WQED, 98.3 K-Love and WYEP you get a 7.3, which is a higher number than KDKA.

The X is just not sounding good all around. Its time for them to put away a lot of the '90s staples they have played since day one. There is a dry spell right now in alternative and rock/pop music. Look at the CHR charts at how far they lean rhythmic/pop.

The true test for the Fan will be with the start of the NFL season and with their recent on-air lineup changes. Outside of dumping Bell, I am not sure if I agree with them. The morning show is still a mess with Alexander on there. The 10-2 shift could be replaced with the Vlasic pickles stork and the Peanuts French Horn sound and nobody would know the difference. Afternoon drive is still weak up against MM.

OMG, I was just thinking this yesterday. In succession I heard Live, Soundgarden and Filter. Then they tried playing a new song by the Temper Trap (a super cool new Australian band) on their call-in feature and it got soundly dissed by the 80% male callers. So they responded by playing Dio. I don't know how this station can call itself "active rock" or "modern rock" when anything "active" or "modern" gets shot down. Not only that, it's so female-unfriendly it's ridiculous. And I say this as a girl who likes her loud rock.

It's time for them to either change their playlist and overall attitude, or to just own up to what they are and make their tagline "The X, Riding Kurt Cobain's D*** Since 1994."

The X is only good for Prehistoric X, and they only get away with that because their typical bonehead audience is passed out on Sunday mornings. (Apologies to X listeners with taste).

Correction. The Fan did not beat WEAE -- ties 12+ lost in Men 25-54 AND P25-54. Loses in morning, midday and pm drive M-F to them.

According to the numbers posted on this site:

12+
KDKA-FM 1.3
WEAE 1.2

Cume
KDKA-FM 148,200
WEAE 113,500

Also, persons 18-34 KD-Fm ranked 13th, EAE 18th.
EAE did win persons 25-54 by.1, and tied for 11th in men 25-54 whle the Fan tied for 14th.

No biggie P/T ... You are however looking P6+ .. not uncomon
For a FM to outcume but not convert.
ESPN wins on all major dayparts.

And I'm not trying to argue either, but...

You're saying the difference in total persons is that KD-FM has some listeners between the ages of 6-12?

Aside from that, while the Fan hasn't grown, ESPN has been trending down. We'll see how much of that is just seasonal.

Yes, ppm measures 6+ but nobody goes by that.. And sadly
It could be one person with a meter.

An FM is on the highway, crappy 1250
AM is on a back road.... Easy to outcume,
But what is their TSL? That's their issue.

And yes it's seasonal.. Look at MM's numbers..
