Pittsburgh new urban station outlet

They're dancing in the streets of Pittsburgh over this one.

Its probably intended to be like the now defunct WAMO-AM with some local talk shows, Bev Smith etc. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a little bit of music. I also read that the owner is looking to buy an FM station, I would assume that this is where the younger-oriented music (like WAMO-FM) would go.

This is a start anyway, better than nothing.

Actually, from what I'm hearing is that the FM stick will be Urban AC, which essentially leaves younger black listeners out in the cold. He could do like some 1 AM and 1 FM setup like V-103 & WAOK in Atlanta where you can have a full-service urban that covers everybody on the FM while maintaining the Black News/Talk on the AM.

That would be nice, but either way one format wouldn't be served. V-103 does play R&B and Hip-hop, but not classic soul old school (urban AC). Urban AC and Black News Talk could work if combined on the AM stick.

Actually, V-103 plays old school on Sunday afternoons and classic soul practically every night during the Quiet Storm; in addition to the fact that V-103 gives a lot of spins for at least 2-3 old school throwbacks during this majority of its dayparts except Greg Street. I get what you are saying, but younger listeners don't typically listen to Urban AC outlets instead they scour the dial looking for the station that is playing the hottest urban hits.
